Frankly, we’re awesome, and nothing can ever top a description as straightforward and honest as that. In more detail, Yukan is named after a J-Drama which began in the year 2007, so not that long ago when this blog was established by blissmo. The term yukan translated in English means “leisure”, therefore this blog focuses on anything regarding leisure … which is basically everything depending on how you see it. Yukan can also be interpreted as “you can” (smart, huh?), meaning anyone can blog. Yes, even you.

Yukan Blog! was founded by blissmo but after a few months of total solitude, it was then that she decided a team blog would be better. The previous blog, Hikari no Shiawase (dare click on this link and prepare to suffer for all eternity living among undead rabbits), was established on the 9th of January 2008 but moved to dasaku since the 25th of March on the same year. Inspired by totali and his love for Bamboo Blade, blissmo entered the anime blogging community and sought out to find writers willing to work with her. In no time, Yukan Blog! kicked off 2008 with eleven writers blogging on a regular basis. What happened to that motivation? That hard-working atmosphere to blog anime on time? Well, let’s just say Yukan finally decided it was time to close the can of whoop-ass and fall into an early and prolong hibernation. The previous theme was called RoundAbout and can be found here. The current theme is version 2 of Michael Jubel’s Arthemia.

These bloggers are the ones who ensure Yukan remains active and lively. Really though, they’re nothing but lazy writers who’ve recently lost their mojo and they barely even contribute in the anime blogging community. Jokes and sarcasm aside, they are honoured Yukan authors. They are proud, arrogant, and have every reason to be so. After all, where else do they get their awesomeness from but blissmo? Show ▼
I have been into anime about 8 or 9 years and still can’t get enough of it. Starting off with the typical American boy shows of DBZ and Pokemon, I soon moved into better things like Akira and other obscure titles that were rented from Blockbuster on random. Actually, the only movie I’ve been kicked out of was Pokemon the Movie, apparently crawling behind the movie screen to see what Pikachu looks like from the other side isn’t allowed. I am into romance, shoujo, comedy, and some shounen and action styled shows; so be prepared for some slightly homosexual sounding views from me. Anime has made some great memories in my life, even if I can’t ever recall what all I’ve watched, and I look forward to what I’ll share with it in the future. So, I joined this blog to share my feelings towards anime and am proud to now be an abuser of admin rights.

Grew up with anime and not afraid to admit he once loved Sailor Moon when he was 7. However, still stubbornly denies he is a hardcore fan and claims he is somewhere between hardcore and casual. Normally prefers anime with seinen demographics but occasionally watches comedy, shoujo or shounen titles. Only fears watching yaoi titles due to the traumatic experience of watching Gravitation but has mixed feelings on yuri type anime. Has been involved in a few small AGC (Anime Games & Comics) Conventions working as the co-ordinator (slave boy). Has a strange weakness to anything obscenely cute e.g Chiyo-chan from Azumanga. Friends might describe personality as resembling Ulquiorra (close friends think otherwise >.<) from Bleach except he is taller than Ulquiorra.

Cokematic is in his early 20’s and still enjoys anime and all that jazz. Ten years ago he would of thought to himself “eww someone in his mid 20’s still watching anime.. how creepy. Must be a freak.” He is a former staffmember of Ishin-Digital, although he didn’t really do anything (unless you count Scaneditor/Typesetter for Ishin’s Pita-Ten Scanlations). When not watching anime, he likes to Chat on mIRC, play video games, play with Photoshop, and take pictures of vending machines.Favourite animes include: Honey and Clover, Azumanga, Gurren Lagann and Hidamari Sketch (just to name a few). Cokematic will generally watch any genre (even Yaoi. Buy hey, he thought Gravitation was a space anime at first … IT *SO* NOT a space anime), but generally prefers comedies and slice of life animes. He also has an annoying habbit of using smiley too much, which amazingly, he has avoided so far

newgeekphilosopher is a high school student and freelance intellectual who contemplates the complexity of human existence through popular culture such as Anime. He is well versed in the classics of Anime and knows that Anime started with Osamu Tezuka, not Naruto. His first Anime crush was on Misty from Pokemon at eight years old, but since then he has acquired better taste in women, 2D or 3D, he respects them all. He also has a thing for girls with glasses, as evidenced by his unusual fandom of Yomiko Readman in R.O.D.: Read or Die. He is Australian and makes no apologies for not being American.

Avivd gamer, writer, computer wizard, (To an extent) and mind of wisdom as well as air, these all the words that can explain Kaze. The first anime series that has gotten to where I am now are proabably the same as everyone else: Salior Moon, Voltorn, Ronin Warriors, and Gundam. Now, immersed into the word of Japanese culture, I tend to pick up and try everything I can, including: H-games, food, light novels, and the occassional anime/manga that I comed to love. Some of favorite series include: Fate/Stay Night, Night Wizard, Gundam Seed, Negima, Shakugan No Shana, Kaze No Stigma, Torodora, Chaos;Head, and many others. Games I tend to pick up and play: JRPG’s, RPG’s, MMORPG’s, Fighting, and FPS. My goals for the future, well for me to know and for you to find out.

My first encounter with anime was during primary school. But back then I considered shows like Pokemon and Dragonball as just “cartoons.” However after witnessing the greatness and epic failure of Naruto, I began to expand my knowledge and experience with Japanese animation. I’ve seen a fair amount of anime and have found that my favourite genre would be shonen anime. Along with anime I also enjoy watching Japanese live-action dramas and listening/playing Japanese Pop/Rock music. I also enjoy computer graphics from creating/editing images or marveling at other peoples art.

A female blogger and owner of Yukan Blog! She secretly built this site in order to make friends because she doesn’t have a social life outside the web. Her favourite types of anime are mostly shounen, but she will rarely watch a romantic-only based one so long as the animation quality is excellent and the characters are lovable (e.g. true tears). In about every anime you will hear her rant on about at least one character because she believes that there’s always an character to hate. She fell in love with anime after watching the 48th episode of Naruto when Rock Lee and Gaara bring it on, and from then on entered the real world of anime after discovering brilliant masterpieces like D.N. Angel and CODE GEASS and Baccano! and Death Note. She will always fangirl over hot anime characters that have cold attitudes, dark secrets/past, or completely adorable/absurd personalities and looks like Tamaki and Honey from Ouran High School Host Club.

Yukan is glady (hopefully this is how it is) hosted by Randall who owns dasaku. If you’d like a recommendation from blissmo, ngp or Cokematic, please contact that preferable “friend” and they will get in touch with Randall ASAP. Please keep in mind that there are no guarantees that the landlord will agree. dasaku is like every other free subdomaining company, except having Randall as the Big Boss makes blogging so much more fun. Feel free to join us at the irc channel any time! By that, we mean now.
