Summary:
Shirley is now haunted by the memories that have come back to her. She remembers how she shot Villeta and how Lelouch shot her father. She is scared and confused which makes her call Suzaku. At the meeting of Suzaku and Shirley, Lelouch shows up. back at Ashford, Villeta questions why Rollo betrayed them, but before Rollo could answer the alarms in the secret bas go off. The reason is because Jerimiah(Orange-kun)has entered the school grounds looking for Lelouch. He is confronted by two guards, but takes them down with ease. He is met by Sayoko, but she can’t really hurt Jerimiah because of his metal body. Meanwhile, at the Geass ruins, Bartley tells Cornilia that the people who brought him there wasn’t to kill the Gods. Cornilia says its impossible because there is no such thing as Gods. V.V. shows up and she agrees with Cornilia. Cornilia then proceeds to throw a knife at V.V., but of course V.V. can’t die.
The fight at Ashford between Sayoko and Jerimiah is quickly brought to an end, when Jerimiah knocks out Sayoko. Villeta steps in and tells him where Lelouch is. It seems as though Villeta has betrayed them, but then she tells Rolo to contact Lelouch and make a plan against Jerimiah. At the same time, Shirley is walking together with Suzaku and Lelouch. She wants to tell Suzaku about Lelouch being Zero. She starts to second guess herself and starts to think that since Lelouch and Suzaku are such good friends, that maybe Suzaku is in on it too. She starts to become paranoid and panics. She jumps up on to the edge on top of the building and starts yelling at Lelouch and Suzaku to stay back. The closer they get to her the more she walks back and eventually she falls. Lelouch tries to grab her, but he falls too, but Suzaku manages to hold on to both of them. After Shirley finally comes to her senses, Suzaku pull them all back up. Once safe and exhausted, they act like nothing happened and start talking like friends again. Suzaku quickly stops himself from laughing, after he reminds himself that Lelouch was the one that killed Euphemia. Lelouch reminds them that they were supposed to be meeting each other not him, so Suzaku drags Shirley away.
It’s at this point that Jerimiah walk in and the guard stop him because they are under the control of Lelouch’s geass. Jerimiah usses his Geass Canceller and knocks the guards unconscious, causing a panic. Adding some more fire to the flames, Lelouch initiates smoke to be released from the air vents making it look like there’s a fire. Everyone evacuates the mall including Suzaku and Shirley, but they soon realize that Lelouch is still in there so Suzaku goes back in. Soon after that Shirley runs away from her escort and goes in aswell. Shirley picks up a gun of one of the guards, but is quickly cutoff by Rolo. At the same time, Lelouch lures Jerimiah into the train station where he activates his Gefjun Disturbers. This messed with the Sakuradite that Jerimiah’s body is made out of and stops him dead in his tracks. Lelouch asks Jerimiah for the location of the people he is working with, but Jerimiah feels that Lelouch is the one who should be doing the talking. Jerimiah asks lelouch why he has betrayed his homeland and his father. Lelouch explains that it is because his father let his mother get killed, thus depriving Nunally of her mobility and sight. Jerimiah already knew this and tells Lelouch that he ahd been there as a guard on his first mission. Jerimiah comes to the conclusion that Lelouch became Zero for Marianne’s sake, which makes Lelouch believe that Jerimiah isn’t there to kill him. After Jerimiah says that V.V. isn’t his master but Marrianne is, Lelouch turns off the disturbers, runs to Jerimiah’s side, and gets Jerimiah to pledge his loyalty to Lelouch.
Shirley asks Rolo if he like Lelouch, but after hearing her mention Nunally, Rollo activates his geass. By the time Lelouch gets there Rollo is gone and Shirley is lieing on the floor with a bullet in her chest. She is still alive and is very happy to see Lelouch. Shirley explains that even when she knew that Lelouch killed her father she loved him, that even after she got her memories back, she still loved him, she concludes saying that when she is reborn that fate will bring them together again. When Shirley is on the brink of death, Lelouch activates his geass and tell Shirley not to die, but even his geass can’t bring the dead back to life. Lelouch can do nothing, but grieve the death of the one he loved.
Thoughts:
The New OP and ED are awesome. The ED sounds almost the same as the old one, but the art by CLAMP is astounding as usual. The new OP gives us new incite into what may become of the last half of the season; plus it has a great song to boot. Judging by the OP, Sunrise may take this plot to space(!) and the Knightmares may be getting some new upgrades as well. I’m glad that we finally got a really good episode and not some of the ones like the previous few. Judging by this episode, the main writer must have came back from there vacation. The fight scene with Jerimiah and Sayoko, although short, was well animated and very entertaining. I was disappointed in the way they introduced Jerimiah back into the series, mainly because they didn’t try to mask his teaming up with Lelouch. To me, the team up between them was very predictable and I could see it coming from a mile away. For all you shirley fans, don’t read what I am about to say. I for one, am grateful for Shirley’s death. She was a second rate character who just didn’t shut up about Lelouch. Her only real purpose in this series was to be another pawn in the game. Sure Lelouch loved her, but in the end she died like every other pawn Lelouch used in his plan. Maybe now we can move on with the main plot instead of investing our time in a secondary character that just got picked off anyway.Next week looks like another great episode and hopefully we will learn something about V.V. which still remains a big the mystery. I can’t wait to see how this alliance with Jerimiah will help Lelouch and maybe, just maybe, we I will get a response to the question that is killing my brain, “Can Lelouch use his Geass more than once with the help of Jerimiahs Geass Canceller.

Well, I must say that you write really well; its fluid and really coherent and you even convinced me to ignore my Shirley fanboy instincts and view the show from a greater perspective than the next WTF moment or mecha-pimping battle XD. I’m not really sure about Lelouch’s Geass; you’d think he failed to make Shirley live as she was so close to death, but maybe he really can’t succesfully re-geass someone.
Oh, new OP= Awesome
New ED= great images, faileriffic music. (Enough with goddam ALI PROJECT!)
FINALLY SHIRLEY DIES! I was so happy, but the death just needed to be more epic, however, the way she died is fine too. I like the new OP as well, but not enough Kallen and too much Guren. I wonder what would happen if Lulu Geass-ed someone to protect him and another person to kill him. Which side would win?
@Omisyth: TY. I am here to please. *Hotcakez drips humbleness* Yes the OP is awesome
@ Blissimo: Yes! A fellow supporter! Shirley certainly was a suckerific character indeed. I don’t care how she died as long as shes dead. I dont want anymore robo-shirleys like orange-kun. At least now we can move on with the main plot. Yes we need more boo…..uhh i mean Kallen aha. Which ever guy was stronger would win! DUHHHHH!

Kind of surprised with the happy Shirley is dead stuff. Even if you don’t like her she wasn’t a bad person who we should be happy is dead. Sure wasn’t at the top of my favourite character lists, but wasn’t someone I hated either. Its a loss that will affect a large amount of the cast. Lelouch will certainly be mourning and when he finds out Rollo is responsible, will crush him in the most cruel way he can. Also from that preview seems he will really blame himself because he took the geass.
Suzaku will surely blame himself and kick the asses of those guy who were left to guard Shirley. Seriously they couldn’t keep up with a student? Or did they give even though they had orders from the Knight of Seven to protect her? Lelouch will probably put some blame on Suzaku as well for not keeping her safe. Nunnally, Kallen, and the rest of the group from school will all be hurt terribly by the loss as well. The hopes of one day coming back together died with Shirley.
But Shirley’s last actions and death may have one of the greatest impacts on resolutions. With both Suzaku and Lelouch put home messages of forgiveness. Even though terrible things have happened there is the ability to forgive each other if they want to. Only thing holding them back is the thinking that they are supposed to be hating each other.
Liked the visuals on the new OP and ED. In terms of music liked the OP more and the ED less than the last one they had. Some interesting imagery being shown there. ED with this series is usually good for discussions based on symbolism.
Ooo, so is this the “We don’t give a **** that Shirley is dead club”? *joins*
She’s fulfilled her plot device part. Now moving on…

@FlareKnight:
Well, yeah, I suppose she did do something good in the end, and that yes, she wasn’t horrible or anything so celebrating her death wouldn’t be the best idea, but I just love it when characters die, mostly the “good side-characters” because it happens so rarely in anime. Lulu will definitely get over Shirley’s death in the end because he has Kallen lols, or Code Geass R2 will end with everyone forgiving each other.
Its all well and good to not feel much for Shirley dying, but why must you people be so heartless? ;_;

I actually like season 2 more for the harem.Killing off a female character is always disappointing imo.Think of all the fanservice that could have/would have been done.I was hoping for some kind of Euphie X Lulu incest before she died back in season 1.For me,while Shirley is/was a whiny bitch.She was a hot whiny bitch.Which means its still a sad loss.

@Flareknight: I dont hate Shirley. I am just lad that shes dead because we can finally move on with the main part. By celebrating her death, am celebrating the return of my loved one Kallen back into the show*fanboy scream*. And no matter what you say about shirley, in the end she died just like every other pawn in Lelou’s game. No special death. She fufilled her role so now we can move on.
@issa-sa: Exactly my point.
@Omnismyth: Because i have a black whole, not a heart!
@Makato: The only thing good about season 2 is the harem. As much as i wanted a season 2, i wish sunrise would have let the series end at season 1. Yes shirley was a hot character, but now we can get back to Kallen who is 100000000x hotter!
@Shin: Lulz
ALI PROJECT must die.

At least we know now that with orange on his side. lulu can spam his geass on the same person multiple times.
@shadowlancer:
I really don’t want Lulu to get all the awesome guys … If Anya joins him, I’m going to …. strangle Sunrise
@Korosa: Yes there songs, to me, suck bad!
@shadowlancer: unfortunately yes. i hope something happens because an almighty Lulu is just not my cup of tea. I want a struggle!

I’m very sad that Shirley died because she represented an innocent love. I think that’s it… There’s no going back. And if Rolo really killed her, I think he just killed that innocence he wanted to pretend to have with his “brother” along with protecting Ashford.
Her death is more symbolic than anything I would have suspected.
@Sad: Symbolism is for the weak, as is a pathetic death, meaning Shirley was weak!

[...] Geass and Soul Eater that I already am posting about. The link to my Code Geass R2-13 review is HERE. I am really busy this week so I haven’t had time to post a serperate post up here. [...]
what i like about how things are progressing is that they are trying to ease out the ashford kids with table-chan out (most of the time), milly graduating and shirley dying. i seriously hope that the story will all be moving along now to the war.
biankitas last blog post..The "Maybe" Bin
@biankita: thats what ive been trying to say this whole time! TY!
i guess lelouch can use the geass against the same individual again, since he told shirley not 2 die, and it shows shirley’s iris outline is red(mind-controlled), so the reason y the geass failed is becuz the person is bounded to his/her physical/mental condition, which means shirley’s weak body can’t let her live
Rolo was jealous that Shirley’s love to Lulu was strong but it was actually “Nunnaly” that triggered the blood bath.
Shirley was innocent & had no part of the war. Yet, Rolo had to kill her! Argh!
He really wants to takes Nunnaly’s place as Lulu’s younger sibling.
Now, I hate ROLO!!!! Die stupid sh*t!!
I hope everyone would join the “Rolo must die a painful death” club
Orange-kun must kill him for me >=)
I can’t wait to see how Lelouch will react to Shirley’s death. Sure, we found the immediate reaction, but I wonder how the hell he’s going to off Rollo once he finds out this one. I hope Jeremiah’s involved. I also hope torturing and trash talking is involved. Plus, with this turn of events, I’m not really sure if Rollo really is on Lelouch’s side.
Now if Rollo was actually jealous, he might just be homosexual. Maybe Lelouch will pull the gun on him in bed, and Jeremiah will be standing behind the curtains to, uh, counteract any Geassing.
Meanwhile, the OP gives me some hope that everything will turn out well for Lelouch and his friends, but maybe that’s just me. And it’s insight, not incite. incite == provoke
@daddywang:
Hmmm, I never really thought about that and just thought that Lulu’s Geass was failing lols
@dth:
To me, Rolo is just lost and confused. He’s never had a family before, which is why he’s both over-protective and easily jealous when Lulu is more concerned with someone else. Man, I’d like to see Rolo try and lay a finger on Kallen.
@ritchan:
The OP was lame, although the music was good. How could they possibly lack some Kallen? And the ED didn’t even HAVE Kallen in it. Just because she got kidnapped … it’s almost as if she’s dead already.
