GA-REI -zero- 05: I Love You, But Let’s Never Get Along

Familiarity breeds contempt which breeds violence which breeds love. Of course!

Rather than moping in the corner due to the recent lack of blood-action, I actually appreciated how this episode delved further into Yomi and Nori’s relationship. Regardless of not fully understanding why they behave the way they do in front of others, the two make a really cute pair, even though for a second there I had wished Nori would go out on a date with Kiri instead. After all, she looked so adorable dressed up and embarrassed when she met him! Anyway, where this series is headed I can’t predict, but Mei is obviously the antagonist despite being an exorcist.

Now that Kagura seems to have reached her present age, I suspect Yomi’s disappearance will occur really soon and Ga-Rei -zero- can finally be rid of the flashbacks. Although interesting as they may be, the other side of me desperately wants to know whether or not Yomi kills Kagura in the future. Not that Ga-Rei -zero- is the most foreseeable anime, but I expect the reason behind Yomi’s departure involves Mei. Hypothetically, though Kagura is the object of Yomi’s jealousy, Mei’s mockery will be the one to trigger it. Naturally, I wouldn’t be surprised if this entire theory turned out to be inaccurate, but Mei—-beautiful and skilled with the blade as she is—-sends me the “Queen Bitch” vibe.

Simply quick thoughts for this one. I’ve pretty much accepted that from now on Ga-Rei will have moved away from its darker beginning and go into more developement of character relationships and light-hearted comedy. With that acceptance, comes appreciation. There were some legitamately funny moments for me (HOT COFFEE OF A WOMAN SCORNED) and the entire LOVE ATTACK plan, though cheesy and predictable, was still enjoyable. Subconsciously, I’ll still be waiting for Mah Crazay Yomi, but it’ll be a wait accompanied by some hawt playful lesbians sadistic Mei action. blizzy’s right; that is one, hauntingly beautiful, silently homicidal, white-haired “Queen Bitch”.

I’m wondering how they are going to go about resuming, since it’s been 3 episodes, and likely going to be 1-2 more episodes before we get back on track. If they recap, and the series is 13 eps, that’d be odd. If they present it differently, like Yomi’s perspective, that’d be hot.

btw, I think Mei knows what’s going on more then any of the other characters. :3

I’m pretty sure that it won’t jump back to episode 1/2’s time frame until the near end of the series (betting on ep 10). There’s still plenty of potential development for Yomi and I don’t think GR-Z will get to Ga-Rei (manga) plot just yet.

I’m still trying to figure out what the point of episode one was, if actually was one. It couldn’t just be an attention grabbing prologue that has nothing to do with the rest of the story.

I guess we will have more flashback episodes before coming back to the pk-ing episodes.

(sigh) When are they going to show us the main characters, plot, and conflicts?

i miss the darker stuff from episodes 1 and 2. that was the only reason why i even picked up the show in the first place. but in hindsight, the show really got me interested on how yomi came to the “dark side”.

eps 6 and 7 are out – it’ll be really nice if you can blog them, because apparently no one else does.
