Kyo no 5-2: A Pervert Who’s Not Really A Pervert

Innocent Sato confused for a pervert.

When you’ve got a sister who constantly searches for anime, you can’t help but skim through at least an episode knowing that it’s already downloaded onto your hard-drive—-so basically, I would not have bothered with this series at all if it weren’t for her. Initially, I brushed off the idea of checking out the first episode because although the artwork was pleasant and very cute, slice-of-life anime has never been my favourite genre. Before watching the first episode though, my expectations were pretty low so that would explain why I thoroughly enjoyed it.

While I wouldn’t exactly call this series the best show aired this season, it’s definitely fun to watch when you’ve got nothing else to do (or when you feel like going back to the good ol’ days of being a preschooler). It’s not extremely hilarious in a sense that you’ll find yourself rofl’ing every second, but the characters are quite adorable nevertheless. Since our main character Sato is given the image of a total dope, he’s always in the wrong place at the wrong time: it’s priceless watching his friends accuse him of being a pervert as he tries to defend himself, but fails to convince them of his innocence. My only complaint about this series is how the maturity level of the female characters are awfully exaggerated. Well, maybe not so much exaggerated that they’re like 30 year-old’s disguised as kids, but I still don’t approve of their behaviour: I don’t remember myself ever walking down the street bragging about how “woman” I am back then, and even now I don’t do that.

I was thinking of watching this a few weeks ago, but then stopped right when I noticed how poor the art is. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’d love to watch Kyou no Go no Ni all over again… but it’s just that after I’ve watched the OVA I couldn’t bring myself to watch a… “degraded” version of it.

Hopefully the series will have more than what the OVA have to make up for the lower animation quality.

And yea, collarbones = epic :P

Sato’s like me when I was younger; not explicitly perverted but curious….

Do yourself a favor and drop this sorry excuse of a manga adaptation and stick to the OVA. I weep whenever someone decides to watch this.

@Aizen: Is the artwork for this anime that horrible? lol

@FFVIIKnight: I didn’t think the quality of the animation was that bad :P

@Shin: Haha, I’m glad I made you cry

@olivia: So I hear; I should probably check that out too
