Seikirei – 01:First Looks

S&M chicks?
If there was one thing that I never figured out about Seikirei was the purpose of drawing all the girls with oversized boobs.Besides the fanservice aspect,they do nothing but get in the way.But you could say it was because of those things that I ever decided to read the manga anyway.

Somehow I get back the old memories of reading Mai-Otome,the manga,the anime….don’t wanna talk about it.At least in Mai-Otome the explanation for everybody having huge boobs was to increase their battle abilities.Erisu was it?Was the one with the “best” battle abilities judging by that then.Okay,so back to the main topic.What do I think?Nothing much to say really.

A 2 time ronin just flunks the university entrance exam and a girl just drops out of the sky.Turns out she’s a pokemon Seikirei and the loser is her master.To put it simply,they have to beat up 107 other Seikirei’s and win the Pokemon League Championship right to assend to heaven.

While Omni from Randomc complimented the use of fanservice as “tolerable” .I had to bear the full brunt of that fanservice in the manga.The anime adaption is really tame in comparison.For me though,Seikirei isn’t really a series that has much substance to it and well,getting an anime is just proof that guys just love the stuff.Though I myself haven’t read the manga in a while (=.=) because I’m more busy editing manga than reading them these days.For now,don’t expect anything much until the main characters are properly introduced.

Bear the full brunt? You make it sound like it was bad!

I liked it….but page after page, full of detailed images of Musubi totally bare naked every few chapters really gets you a little worried that somebody might just pop up and jump to the conclusion that you’re surfing porn.
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Hadn’t read the manga at all. Don’t really like ecchi manga/anime (unless it fits really well, like in Love Hina), mostly because the main character and the girl don’t really like each other but it’s just a relationship based on sex and ecchiness. This wasn’t really all that different, but the Elfen Lied-ish first scene made me quite hyped. The battles seem quite nice (though do they *need* to have clothes ripping with every attack?)… but I’m just waiting for the story to start. Is there actually a decent story here, or is it like most ecchi anime where the story seems to serve as an excuse for ecchiness? In any case, good character design (no, I don’t like ‘em that big) and the production quality is defiinitely up there, especially the animation.
I haven’t read the manga but I find the S&M twin characters rather hilarious, they remind me of team rocket!
They’re totally weird though. They could have blast Musubi with a thunder bot instead of running towards her to stop her from kissing the protagonist.

That’s what I meant by the purpose of the oversized boobs.Clothes ripping during each fight won’t be much of a problem otherwise.Its actually just your basic shounen fare minus the fanservice.But whether they’ll lean towards R+V’s fanservice heavy approach remains to be seen.
@Hynavian
What?Stop the kiss?That whole orgasm during the transformation scene was the only anime original part I truly enjoyed!!
[...] be it from me to question one who has actually read the manga but I’m actually interested in the plot fighting in this show. I haven’t read that much [...]
