Vampire Knight – 02

Geez, blissmo’s comments are always so criticizing…

Summary:
Valentine’s Day is coming up, and all the girls from the Day Class are eager to give their chocolates away for the Night Class. Because of all the hustle and bustle on that day, Yuki and Zero are to be extra alert in case Day Class girls are wandering around. Zero asks to ban the whole ‘Valentine’s Day’ plan while the Chairman is telling him that the vampires that are being tested for the blood pill plan are very important, and that he hope that Zero can one day understand his way of thinking. Zero says that it will be impossible, saying that the past cannot be erased. Yuki interrupts the whole thing by giving Zero and the Chairm-I mean, ‘Daddy’ by giving them Valentine presents. The chairman is overjoyed at receiving free coupons for Yuki back-rubs while Zero gets… a Gopher coupon. Zero says that Yuki hasn’t given them anything different since primary school. She tells him to shut up and they leave the office.
As Yuki and Zero are walking down the hallway, she remembers back to when she met Zero when his family was killed by a bad vampire. The Chairman tells Yuki to give Zero a bath. Yuki talks to him as he silently follows her. She takes off his jacket to reveal the huge stain of blood on his shoulders. Even though Zero is silent throughout the whole thing, she just kept helping him. Yuki was wondering why she was so gentle and soft: it was because she was afraid that boy in front of her was going to break in pieces and disappear.
As the Night Class are about to go, girls outside are screaming and excited. Yuki tells them off, saying that giving the Night Class chocolates before Valentine’s is prohibited. However, two girls try climbing the gate and end up tumbling, but Zero catches one of them. The gates open and the Night Class comes out. The Day Class starts fangirl-ing crazily. As Kaname passes, he says hello to Yuki. He stops and stares at Zero, asking how Zero is feeling and tells him to take care of himself.
That night, Yuki tries to make some hand-made chocolate. Zero is secretly watching her in the hallway and starts to climb the staircase, only to weakly collapse halfway. The Chairman comes and tells him running away from it will make it worse. He offers Zero the blood pill but he flings it away angrily.
Valentine’s Day! Yuki’s friend, Yori-chan, asks her about the hand-made chocolate. Yuki failed and ended up buying store-made ones. Zero tells Yuki to get moving and they start to move towards the gate. The gates today are properly ordered so the Night Class can get their chocolates. Each separate gate has their name on it and they have to race to get the most chocolates. Even Ruka gets chocolates from a male Day Class student. Yuki plays with the box in her pocket, hoping to give it to Kaname. However, he starts to leave, but a whole bunch of girls push her over, causing to drop the box of chocolates in her pocket. Zero picks it up and throws it to Kaname. As Zero is standing there, he gets thirsty (… for blood) and runs away. Seiren (the vampire who is always at Kaname’s side) offers to dispose of all the chocolate. He throws them all away except for Yuki’s.
Zero is in the stables by himself, trying to contain the urge inside of himself. The girl he caught the other day tries to give him chocolates but ends up running away when Zero tells her to piss off. Later at night, Zero is patrolling when five of the Night Class vampires appear in front of hi. He pulls out his ‘Bloody Rose’ and asks them what they’re doing. Aidou tells him that he’s a stuck-up bastard while Ruka tells him off for acting high-and-mighty to Kaname. The other three (Akatsuki, Senri and Rima) tell those two off since Kaname would not want this. However, Zero flips Akatsuki over, starting the fight. The area around Aidou’s feet start turning into ice and Akatsuki has little flames appear around him. Yuki comes in and tells them to go back. They obey and leave Zero and Yuki alone. As they are walking, Zero leaves and tells Yuki to leave him alone.
That night, in the bathroom, Zero sits against the wall, his face wet. Yuki comes in and starts to clean him up, just like that night when he first came. She takes out a ball of chocolate and gives it to him, saying that was the only hand-made one she successfully made. He makes a face at her but as she turns away, he instantly notices her neck and leaves the room, telling her to leave him alone. Zero goes into his room and takes a glass with the blood pill. However, his body rejects it.
My Thoughts?:
Well, the episode sure didn’t make fighting. Or blood. And the storyline is sure progressing very slowly. Where’s all the blood and fighting? And when will Zero FINALLY drink Yuki’s blood? I’m getting impatient. And what was with the special powers Aidou and Akatsuki have?
Anyway, apart from the negatives, it was a slow-paced anime, you didn’t have to watch it twice to understand AND the voice actors, are. Fricking. Awesome. They get the characters SO WELL!

Hey, why’d you get rid of my “Yuck, the artwork sucks even more?”
