Summary:

Beast men are the rulers of this world and humans are inferior. In the begging the anime is being narrated by Toppi. Toppi is the cute little bear that can pull of being both cute and mysterious. We learn that Toppi is part of a guild of free lancers doing odd jobs for money. This guild is know as the Heroes guild. There is a wanted poster up at the restaurant that our main character Kirie, disguised as a beat man, is working at. Kirie serves a dish to a cloaked woman. She politely tells him that what she ordered was sand-whale not sand-jelly fish. Kirie comes back to the table with her sand-whale. While all this is going on, the World Salvation Committee busts in and tells every one to stay down. The cloaked woman gets up and unravels the mysterious item she was traveling with which, come to find out, is a huge blade. Startled, the World Salvation Committee soldiers cock there weapons and this is when the woman takes Kirie hostage with the blade to his neck. She knows the soldiers won’t shoot if she holds a beastman hostage. Unfortunately, when the woman tries to pull Kirie back under her blade, his fake ears fall off, revealing that he is a human. So the soldiers begin to shoot the entire place up, forcing Kirie and this mysterious woman to run.

Meanwhile, Toppi is still drinking his beer at the bar when a little boy walks in. He says he was sent under Nekoshi-sama’s request and he was to talk to Toppi about saving his sister from becoming a sacrifice to Sakkai. In a castle on top of the mountain, these cat-like beastmen report to there leader about this new information. The cat gets scared that the World Destruction Committee might want something to do with hims so he decides that he needs to offer a sacrifice to Sakkai.

Our main characters are out in a forest somewhere where it is approaching sundown. During the conversation Kirie says the cloaked woman’s name(Morte, not hot)and she is surprised. She asks how he knew her name and he tells her its because of the wanted posters. Morte says that she didn’t do any of the stuff the wanted poster says she did. She says that one day they just put up the wanted posters and started hunting her. At that moment a girl comes out of the bushes and asked who they are. Stuttering, Kirie replies with the first thing that came to mind, which was that they were drifters. The elders of the near by village offer them a place to stay. They both agree but Morte says she doesn’t want to stay for long.

Night fall comes and we find Kirie and Morte at a dinner table in a small cottage. Before Kirie even finished his dinner he takes most of Morte’s cause she doesn’t like hers. Morte asks Kirie what his plans are now  and Kirie replies, telling her that now that the restaurant is destroyed, he plans on staying in this village for a long period of time. Kirie invites Morte to do the same, but Morte says that she wishes to destroy the world alone. Kirie tell her that doing so would destroy both beastmen and humans alike. Kirie thinks that destroying the world by herself would be impossible, and that is when Morte pulls out the Destruct Code which looks like a orb. Morte explains that this orb alone is enough to destroy the world(how original).  Kirie wants to help but just as Morte could argue with him, Kirie falls asleep and both travelers rest for the night.

This is when the group of cat-like beastmen enter the village asking for the sacrifice. The villagers tell them that the girl is being prepared as they speak. The villagers never have any travelers, so they decide to use this to there advantage, and make dress Kirie up as a woman to be a sacrifice to Sakkai. Rinan caught up with Morte as she was fleeing the village and warned her that Kirie was going to become a sacrifice to Sakkai!

The beastmen surrounded Kirie from above performing this(silly) ritual. While Kirie is down there still snoring like a glutton, a giant water monster was being summoned to eat Kirie up. The blue saliva of the monster drips down on to Kirie’s face. Kirie wakes up and quickly realizes that two huge monsters are about to eat him up. Morte comes to the rescue and takes the cat hostage. The other cat-like beastmen are all hissing at her so she points her weapon at there leader. Threatening the cat leader to be the next sacrifice, she asks them where Kirie is. It is at that moment that she hears a scream from below, and jumps in to help save Kirie, as the cat man gets eaten up in the process. The WSC soldiers come and jump down into the hole as well killing one of the monsters in the process. With the party missing one important person, Toppi arrives and jumps in the whole thinking that he is saving Rinan.

This starts and all out war while Morte and Toppi are battling it out with the WSC soldiers. Kirie is taken hostage by the WSC and they order Morte to drop her weapon. These shenanigans were interrupted by the monster who gives Kirie no time to react. About to become monster food, Toppi jumps in to save Kirie, when Kirie’s cloak comes off. Toppi is startled because he now realizes that Kirie is not a girl (fake b00bies). Now the WSC thinking that Toppi is part of the WDC and the soldiers are ordered to finish Toppi and Kirie off. Morte, wanting to save Kirie and Toppi, threatens to activate the Destruct Code. They WSC soldiers don’t think she’ll do it, so they attack her any way, which makes the Destruct Code fall on to the floor. Kirie runs over to it and picks it up, which makes the orb glow, causing the rocks around them to crumble.

Escaped from death, we find Kirie and Morte on a cliff facing the sunrise(awesome shot). Kirie hands Morte the Destruct code back. Morte proceeds to steal a boat to get back to the mainland. Kirie, realizing that he has no life to go back to, jumps on the back of the boat and tells Morte that hes coming with her. This boat just happened to be the boat that Toppi used to get to the island, so Toppi jumps on the back of the boat and puts a knife to Kiries face and orders Morte to stop the boat. Morte points out that Toppi is a wanted man now and is considered to be in the WDC, so Toppi decides to follow along.

Thoughts:

This episode felt more like a prologue that a real episode. This show (or maybe just episode) was able to pull off, being an exciting, action packed, series without having to use fanservice to attract fans. The intro music was quite good and the intro also shows that there will be at least two more important characters that have yet to be introduced. The voice cast was great and I really like the fact that they make Toppi more masculine with his deep voice (like Kon). From the promos I wasn’t expecting Kirie to be such a coward, but hopefully he will grow to be a stronger character throughout this series. The plot is amazingly well portrayed and though, at the beginning it might be difficult to understand, once you pick up on the background of the series, you will find that the plot was amazingly written and not something just thrown together, like some of the other anime this season.

I loved how they could inform you on the plot, as well as be funny in the first episode. Some animes take the first episode way to seriously, trying to shove the plot down your throat. This first episode was very funny and i can still picture Kiries jiggly boobs in my mind which makes for uber lulz. I am glad that this anime was able to pull off the conversion from game to anime, much more smoothly then previous shows (Devil May Cry: The Animated Series). Overall this looks like a series worth taking a look at and comedy and action fans alike, should definitely give this series a look at.

Next episodes preview showed Morte crying in a grave with a young boy beside her dieing, which means we will get more information on Morte tragic past. Hopefully we will get the introduction to some new characters from the OP and also some good lulz like we had in this episode.

Woot, glad it worked! Now aren’t you glad you all use an up-to-date version of WP? =D

This show looks kinda interesting, but the stuffed animals really make me afraid the show will be dumb. Fortunately it doesn’t look like the show takes itself too seriously, so I might give it a few more episodes.

This show was setting itself up for disappointment because the second I read the name ‘World Destruction’ I thought ‘i’m going to be disappointed if this isn’t dark (hopefully dark comedy)’ and sure enough it isn’t. What it does have going for it are colorful visuals, crazy bear and cat-people, and very very well animated fights. However the dialog and story are totally average (I actually skipped a couple minutes of the middle out of boredom) might be worth it as a ‘fast forward to the fight scene’ kind of show, but for me, it’ll probably be like Night Wizard and I’ll forget I was ever watching.

I’m hoping that this show will at the very least be fun like The Tower of Druaga was… It’s a good plus that Maaya’s voicing the main character of course.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call the plot as amazingly written, but this show may be good for the lulz.

@Kibitzin: Aha yeh thx. I would give it a few more episodes. The bear really helps give the lulz to pull the series together while there are no fight scenes. And the bear can kick some ass.lol

@21st Century Digital Boy: I prefer it like this. The lulz in between the fight scenes is what keeps me from fast forwarding. And Night Wizard was pure Suckage.

@Epi: The first episode was fun and lulz worthy.

@Makoto: The teddy bear is what gives it the lulz. Where’s the fun in having a insanely serious series? You gots to have the lulz!

@blissmo: Have you watched the episode? It was a high quality action anime with loads of lulz! *fanboy scream*

@Omisyth: Personally i think the plot is good. Cliche? Yes. But the writers can pull it off well and even stick in some great comedy as well.

I think Morte is a lot more attractive than any of the girls I’ve seen in recent fanservice anime. Must be the huge blade. Though she’s only 16, so I don’t mean attractive in that sense…

    Baka-Raptors last blog post..Did I mention Kure-nai sucks?
