Mada Mada Dane.

Summary:

Watanuki arrives at Doumeki’s place with some food while Doumeki is busy reading through a book. Once inside, Watanuki notices the magic seals against the wall to keep away bad spirits. After rummaging through a box, Watanuki accidentally causes a plank from the wall to fall off. However, a book which was written by Doumeki’s grandfather is kept in there. The two read through it and find the method to return Watanuki’s eye. They only get pass the part about washing the left cheek with water on a full moon when all of a sudden Himawari’s book opens and a book worm monster appears. At once, it soars to where Doumeki’s grandfather’s book is and starts eating away all the words. In order to trap it, Watanuki places a bentou box over it, however, this doesn’t stop the creature from consuming what Doumeki’s father had written for the cure of the spider’s curse. When Yuuko arrives, she manages to make it sleep after feeding it the magic seals which had been positioned in the room’s walls. She decides to have sake here and Doumeki asks Watanuki to make some croquettes. The following day at school, Watanuki returns Himawari’s book and apologizes for what happened to it, although she dismisses it, instead wishing she had been there to see the book worm herself.

After school, Watanuki is walking home as usual when his blinded eye suddenly sees a black crow flying towards him. He looks up and sees a goldfish swimming in the air. Out of nowhere, a cat-girl appears and swallows it in one whole. Watanuki wonders who she is and she identifies him easily as the one who’s right eye is being scuffled over. Watanuki questions this but she spots another goldfish and chases after it. Later, Watanuki discusses this with Yuuko and she warns him that he may lose his right eye for good. At school the next day, Watanuki laments over what Yuuko had told him. He’s soon invited by Himawari to walk home together, to which he’s most willing to do. As they’re going home, Himawari tells Watanuki that she enjoys scary and weird stuff. As they part ways, Watanuki wonders why Yuuko had forewarned him that Himawari isn’t his goddess of happiness. Suddenly, his right eye sees a woman and then before him an accident occurs. Afraid and confused, his eyes turn to the Karasutengu who have just appeared. They threaten him into taking them to Yuuko since the Vestal Sprite’s innocence has been poisoned and they lay fault on Watanuki, who doesn’t quite comprehend the situation taking place. Of course, they exchange Yuuko’s aid for their Tengu fan but she also makes certain that Watanuki goes with them. Using this new object which had been offered to her, Yuuko transports all of them right where the Vestal Sprite is located. Monoko wonders if he should have gone with them, but Yuuko reassures him that Watanuki needs to learn for himself.

Thoughts:

I pretty nice episode but I’m probably going to drop this series after a while since their exaggerated heights is really getting to me. Watanuki is as funny as ever and Yuuko is certainly an interesting character. I have no idea what the Kura– whatever they’re called are, plus I really want to know how to rid the spider’s curse. I think it’s a competition between this “other” realm for Watanuki’s right eye, and the spider is probably the leader? I love Doumeki’s personality as well since he’s so like “duh” and “err …” if you know what I mean by that. The first episode wasn’t so strange, but this episode was really strange for me. But I think that’s going to have to get some getting used to. Anyway, it was a nice episode, but like I mentioned up there, I might drop this anime since the artwork I really can’t appreciate.
