Shikabanehime : Aka 02 – All talk and no play makes Makina a dead girl

Summary:
The episode begins with the death of four kids in a traffic accident, one of them being Hikari, a friend of some kids at the orphanage where Ouri grew up.
At her own funeral, Hikari suddenly resurrects as a shikabane. In comes Miakina, and in the ensuing battle, she is run through by shikabane Hikari’s tail. Hikari then transforms into her human form when Ouri shows up and Hikari begs him to save her, leaving the injured Makina behind.
Ouri is lured to a park, where apparently two of the other kids have also become shikabane. Just as the three get ready to attack him, Makina shows up (apparently healed) to save his gullible ass (ok fine Ouri helped too… alittle).
Thoughts:
We learn that each shikabane has a human partner – or as they call them, a contractor. We also get to meet two other shikabane/contractor pairs this episode.
The OP was also shown this episode, the song fits the overall fell of the series, and for some odd reason, I just get the feeling Kiseki will die. I can’t quite explain why…
What has annoyed me about many shounen shows is that characters spend a lot of time talking and analyzing in the middle of battle. I mean WTF. If I was in a fight, I wouldn’t stand ther listen to my opponent ramble on. Makina is definitely a talker, screwing up not once, but twice because she was too busy talking.

I facepalmed orz

yeah I’m ready, are you?

oh guess not
This leads me to believe she’s relatively new to her job because we don’t really see Minari making those mistakes.

1, 2, 3 strikes you’re out!
Either way, a good episode, but definitely being outshone by the other supernatural/demon killing show this season, Gai-Rei Zero. God that show is made of wtf-win.

Good to see you writing, dead weight.
And ty for clearing that up, idk why but I totally missed the part about contractors. I must’ve turned away from my screen at that moment.
btw new girl’s fist weapon = so much better!
I’m wondering whether the imaginary axe hanging over Kiseki is because Ouri might end up taking over his role eventually and become Makina’s contractor – Kiseki did (I think) deliberately give Ouri a slightly different family name to distance him from the clan and its activities, and Ouri has already shown he has the power to heal/reawaken her (give the gal a hug and send her back into battle…way to go!).
I haven’t seen Gai-Rei-Zero yet, and looking at my schedule I might not have time to anyway, but SH is providing all the action-packed stuff I was looking for.
Hey, the second episode doesn’t suck as much as the first. Who would’ve thunk it?
Well Makina uses guns and doesn’t afraid of anything lolwit. This series needs to pick up more.
@JLeeson > yay I’m deadweight! Really? I always though twin uzis > fist … makina is just making them look sucky
@ Martin > that and the scene in the OP where Makina and Ouri are standing, with Kiseki’s staff stuck to the ground infront of Ouri.
@ Omisyth > really? I thought they were about the same… Makina just got her ass kicked more this time
@ Panther > “Well Makina uses guns and doesn’t afraid of anything lolwit. MAKINA NEEDS TO SHUT UP AND KILL” <– fixed
Waiting for the third ep. I like it so far despite the slight disappointment that the uzis seem useless XD To think I was initially attracted to this anime because of the guns… I expected more gunnnzzz.
…I agree, I thought uzis > fist but I was wrong >.>
@Cokematic and Char
power fists > twin uzis
You see uzis in every third-rate action flick, but oversized gloves you don’t see every so often. Plus, have you ever seen in any other zombie movie or show where guns did shit? Oversized gloves and fast punches seem to get the job done.
We should request for a change in lead; switch Minari to become the female lead so that whole show’s awesomeness will increase by a notch.
