Slayers Revolution 01

Lina Inverse is back!!

Summary:
![]()
The series begins with Lina and Gourry attacking pirates because they have driven bandits to the verge of extinction. After getting the captain and crew to surrender to her, they are suddenly attacked by Seyruun’s navy. Lina recognizes Amelia’s voice and discovers Zelgadis is with her too.
The four are reunited in a nearby tavern, but the festivities are interrupted when the inspector arrives. He then arrests Lina for the crime of “being Lina Inverse”. Her friends/defence team think of ways to get her out, but they conclude that it is quite difficult to argue that she’s NOT Lina Inverse.

Of course Lina breaks free, and she starts battle with the army assembled to capture her. When the four try to escape, they are stopped by a giant turtle thing. And after knocking it down, Lina prepares to finish it off, when suddenly, a pokemon creature appears and uses Lina’s infamous “Dragon Slave” on it.
W… T… F?
Thoughts:
I don’t know how many of you out there have seen the original Slayers, but this is exactly as I remembered the series. It was good, clean, adventurous fun. Of course like all the others, the OP is sung by Megumi Hayashibara, although it’s not as upbeat as some of the older OPs, I’m sure it will grow on me. The first episode does a good job of getting me primed for the series again, and for those who haven’t seen the original, it was a great no frills introduction to the main characters and their personalities. Like all its predecessors, Slayers Revolution begins humorously but by then end of the series, I’m guessing that Lina and friends will be fighting for the fate of their world. I’m definitely looking forward to Lina’s abuse of her friends, her use of extremely destructive spells at the most inappropriate times and all the other running gags that I have come to love and enjoy. Only question is, have I grown too old for this series? I sure hope not.
Only thing missing is my favourite character, Xellos (who will definately appear later on and it looks like hes on the “good side” to boot. Of course, with the two-faced Xellos, one can never really be too sure).

“Only question is, have I grown too old for this series?”
shame on you, never say that. That’s like saying if you have outgrown halloween or Ice Cream… never say that!
luckily i haven’t outgrown Halloween. but I only eat vanilla ice cream -__-.
Err i think i was too young at the time to remember anything much about this.I do vaguely remember watching a couple of episodes…maybe.I was probably 9 or 10…back when I thought anything that wasn’t pokemon sucks.
The only thing I remember about Slayers is that I named all my Final Fantasy IX characters after Slayers characters, except Zelgadis was one letter too long so I had to settle for Zelgadi (the fat character who eats everything).

I’d whip out my VHS subs to rewatch all of Slayers if I owned a VHS player here >.< (That and I left my tapes 1/2 way across the world.)

Slayers is certainly back! I for one am really glad it is. Luckily had only started rewatching the series when I heard this fourth season was coming. Really does feel like a standard first episode for the series. Lina attacks some bandits/pirates and there is a dragon slave to finish it off. Of course this time she didn’t fire it and it really pissed her off :).
Don’t think its possible to be *too old* for Slayers. At least its just as much fun for me as it was when I first watched the series on VHS. I’m sure Xellos will show up sooner or later. He’s never really on the side of the good guys, but using them for whatever ends his boss has. Of course while he is Lina and company can make some use of him. Can’t wait to see if they once again use the power of positive thinking against him, haha.
@Baka-Raptor: How could you name that character after Zel? He’s way too cool for such a role. Could have just shortened it to Zel at any rate since that’s what Lina calls him.
I’m pretty sure Xellos won’t be 100% good.. wishful thinking? I don’t know. I like him, and I want him to be good, but I think if he ever was 100% goody goody I won’t like him as much. I’ll borrow a facebook status for how I feel about Xellos : “it’s complicated”
I definitely enjoyed the first episode, but I’m not sure how much of hat was hype about the series’ return. That kinda hype will only carry the series so far.

This new revolution series is putting the entire slayers series to shame!! I can’t believe how terrible it is.
It’s great seeing the same characters, but the story is off, waaay off, like, month old leftovers off. Someone needs to get put on a sadistic japanese gameshow for this.
