No, I didn’t blog episode 1

Summary:

Ok so, I had a draft of the summary done when I get an e-mail from Blissmo telling me that Ice had Episode 1 blogged already!! orz (it wasn’t tagged so I didn’t know). So since I decided it was not really necessary to repeat it, I’ll skip to episode 2. A quick recap of where episode 1 left off : Jill wakes up form his dream and his party is trapped at a dead end with a few Kusarkks closing in form behind.

So our hero and his party find themselves trapped and are about to engage the enemy. But just then, drums sound and the Kusarakks scatter. It turns out the Special Guard unit of the Uruk Army is out patrolling the lower levels of the tower. After so narrowly escaping death, and since the caravan they were sent to rescue was wiped out, the party then decides to return to Meskia, the city located on the first floor of the Tower. The party members were pretty harsh on Jill for almost getting them killed, and so Neebda fires Jil, the Guardian of the party. We also find out the Jill is Neeba’s half brother.

Out of a job, and having spent the rest of his money on repairing his shield, Jil heads to the employment office at the plaza. Once there, Jil gets on a platform and there he declares that he will defeat the evil Druaga on the top floor of the tower. He calls out to those brave enough to fight with him only to have everyone laugh at him. Jil reacts by calling the climbers a bunch of thieves and at this point two climbers confront Jil and demands he takes his words back. Jil, of course, refuses and takes a beating. However, after being punched several times and having a rock smashed over his head, Jil is still standing and the offenders flee. Depressed, Jil retreats to an alleyway where a mysterious girl walks up to him, and declares that he is severely injured. At hearing this Jil passes out.

Jil wakes up in a strange room and walks in on the girl from the alley coming out of the shower. She tells him that she has healed his wounds and thats why he feels better. She also tells Jil that her name is Kaaya and that she wants him to take her to the top of the tower. They have lunch on a rooftop and there, Jil is introduced to Ahmey. Kaaya tells Jill that the three of them can climb the tower. Their lunch is interrupted by the King Gilgamesh’s entourage and Jil runs off trying to get a better look. Across the street he sees Neeba and his former party members and tries to follow them into an alleyway. In the alleyway he overhears a plan to assassinate the emperor and mistakenly thinks that Neeba and his party will attempt this assassination.

Later on that night, Jil, Kaaya and Ahmey find themselves hidden outside the guest palace where the emperor is staying. Once they see some cloaked figures approach the sewers, Jil dashes out to try to stop them. Jil realizes that these cloaked figures are not his former partymembers and battle ensues. Oh yes Jil is fighting with a broom. During the fight one of the men sneak into the sewers and Jil chases after him. He ends up in the King’s bedchamber, but all too late. The emperor had been stabbed. Just then guards burst through the door and Jil is caught red handed.

Thoughts:

I will definitely watch the OP each episode!!! Can’t get sick of it.

Curse you sunlight! Curse you!

Anyways, as many people expected, episode 2 was quite different from the first impression we got in episode 1. In this episode we get a feel for what this series will be: a fun fantasy adventure. Something like the Slayers? Or Scrapped Princess (hopefully without all the random plot twists at the end). Anyways, this series is turning out to be more enjoyable than I thought it would be, and there were some funny moments too, like when Kaaya tells Jil hes severely injured and then all this blood sprays out the side of his head. I also can’t help but to think that Kaaya is hiding something important from Jil (obviously, or this story would be boring). I also can’t help but to snicker at Ahmey’s wind-up spear thing, but i guess it makes a better weapon than a broom. If GONZO plays their cards right, this could end up half-decent! Of course, I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.

You can (legally) enjoy this episode (and episode 1) of Tower of Druaga here and here
