For those who didn’t yet notice (I mean, c’mon, we’re so cool it’s rather hard not to notice), Yukan has been inactive since January 14th. Until now, I’ve been selfishly avoiding the announcement of the team’s disbandment, even though jiff emailed me ages back and suggested that I do so straight away. Of course, I immediately set to work, but my stubby little fingers remained still; I just couldn’t think of what to write, and not really knowing why that was so. Two months later, upon reading one of CalAggie’s latest posts, I asked myself why I had refused to bid my farewells to the ani-blogosphere for so long. And then a few minutes ago it hit me: I was afraid — no — scared shitless of leaving officially because you guys have just been so awesome and supportive of my bunny-torturing ways, and did I mention that I love you guys heaps?

Hence the reason I’m not allowing comments on this post (this is also due to my cowardice/cowardliness(?) — see, even my English sucks now). The thought of reading your lovely comments (at least, I’m assuming they will be lovely because you guys are just so cool and I love you lots and lots and lots and it would be a shame if you didn’t feel the same T.T), would make me teary, and if I cry now and wake up tomorrow morning, I’d find myself with very swollen and red puffy eyes. Not good since I’m now attending a co-ed school (hey, you gotsta look good when duty calls). Anyway, basically what happened to me was one day I decided to fan over Criminal Minds and How I Met Your Mother a little too much that I suddenly lost interest in anime and manga at the same time. I’m not entirely bored of those things — I still like drawing … which is still great, right? I also haven’t completely abandoned my murderous ways, and should I ever return to blogging (hopefully I knock my head pretty hard some day and realize I love anime again), bunnies won’t be the only creatures you’ll see dying/committing suicide, haha.

Now I really have to personally apologize to bateszi and Hynavian because I promised you two (and whoever else I promised but forgot to mention, sorry!) I wouldn’t vanish without warning again, but I shamefully did, and I’m really sorry! And I’d also like to apologize for giving such a late notice to everyone because I should have done this so much sooner, but I didn’t. And to JLeeson and newgeekphilosopher if you’re reading this: I don’t use Gmail anymore, but Riex can reassure you that I’m on MSN a lot more these days. At first, it was just me leaving the team (after Omisyth and 21stcenturydigitalboy) but I don’t think anyone’s writing any posts here anymore anyway (f**k, four any- words in one sentence!! Epic achievement!!), and it doesn’t take rocket science to realize that.

So on behalf of the team: LONG LIVE SACRED YUKAN! And this is our final bye-bye! If you’d like to remove us from your blogroll, feel free to do so because technically we’re no longer alive. I’ll miss ya’ll, and shall continue commenting as much as I can, mostly on topics I can relate to!

P.S. THIS IS THE WORST SHIT EVER, RIGHT?! I have no idea what to say … even now! But when I saw that I had three paragraphs going, I felt the urge to write a little bit more, to share my fun experience I had with blogging, and to … tell you guys how much I’ll miss everything, and that includes watching anime (now I just can’t seem to bear it). Even though I comment every now and then, it’s still not the same, you know? But anyway, love you love you love you love you. Good luck in the future, and Shin, I hope you’re having loads of fun in Australia. I know our internet sucks but it’s a pain you must learn to endure for the sake of survival! And to Landlord Randall, I know I’m not that cool and this post proves it, but what happens to Yukan from now on is entirely up to you, of course. I’m so sorry!

Edit: Now I know it isn’t Christmas yet, but I figured since I won’t be here, as in on the computer, on that day I might as well publish this post now. I could have just changed the time for the published date, etc, but I thought to myself: Why wait?

I feel like I deserve a medal for having seen six episodes of SOUL EATER all in one night. 

With two weeks into the summer holidays and Christmas drawing to a near, I must admit that finding the time to watch anime is hardly the problem it used to be. I’ve been enjoying every second of extra sleep and spending money on presents (and myself) as if tomorrow didn’t exist. Alas, this post has got nothing to do with my oh-so wonderful life.

After the rather ridiculous assassin, sent by Arachne to retrieve another of  Eibon’s creations, plunges to his death, the next episode focuses on Chrona betraying Shibusen. Though a decent character she may be, it saddens me to know that she’s under Medusa’s control once again. Even after both Marie and Maka had showed such compassion towards Chrona, I thought that by now she would have learned to stick up for herself. In any case, Chrona deserves more character development than she’s getting. In fact, she hasn’t changed a bit since she first appeared; she’s still hesitant and easily influenced by those around her.

I enjoy watching the plot enfold as Medusa places herself against Shibusen and Arachne, and while everyone believes BREW is in Arachne’s hands, it turns out that Medusa’s the one who really has it all planned out perfectly. I’m beginning to like the relationship shared between Maka and Black Star because there’s actually a much deeper meaning behind the usual “I like you, you like me” bond. It was obvious from the start that Maka held some form of jealousy towards Black Star, but what surprised me was that she admitted it so “early” in the series. I love it how Tsubaki was willing to help Black Star out and after a simple punch to his head, she was satisfied enough to forgive him.

Professor Stein’s insanity continues to rise and the way he laughs just makes me want to poke him. I liked how Soul was playing the piano and sweating profusely while Death the Kid, Black Star and Maka were fighting against Mosquito. It was kind of funny that his legs ending up being too light for his arms that his waist was lifted in the air. Indeed, Marie is a true inspiration and I’m so glad that we’ve been introduced to a new set of side-characters of equal level to Maka’s team. Again, looking forward to what Kid finds out in the next episode.

LOVE ME!

To be honest, lately I haven’t been feeling motivated enough to blog episodically, or blog at all, even though I have a lot of spare time due to summer holidays. Then again, I have a tendency to lose enthusiasm easily and therefore interest myself in other areas such as TV dramas and piano. However, the only shows I can be bothered keeping up with is ToraDora! and Skip Beat! Clearly, I too, like otou-san, have a “thing” for titles ending with an exclamation mark.

Anyway, Kyoko continues to surprise me: it’s difficult to guess when she’ll rage and when she’ll be able to endure the insults. Since I can barely remember what happened in episode six, I remember feeling happy towards the end of the short arc when Ruriko complimented Kyo and awarded her 100 points. During the Maria arc, I especially liked it how Kyo was so upfront about Maria’s father and his feelings towards her. What Maria said about adults often lying and saying the opposite behind your back definitely has some truth in it, but sometimes “it’s for the best”.

I’m starting to see this “new” side to Ren, and suddenly he doesn’t seem so bad anymore. It wasn’t surprising knowing that he was Kyo’s Corn from her childhood, but what I’m most looking forward to is what Kyo will do to Sho now that she has him trapped in the palm of her hands. I loved how he pulled off the name incident by the “it’s all in the past” cliche. I wish the previous three episodes were focused on Sho instead but I wouldn’t change anything in Skip Beat! if I could.

Since Kyo seems to hold such powerful grudges against Sho and Ren, I’m beginning to wonder how she’ll ever end up with either of them if that’s even the case. I’m somewhat certain that the tension between Sho and Kyo won’t be left unresolved and that he’ll become a changed man. As for Ren, well, I suppose the ending song hints that he’ll end up with Kyo — that, and the fact that he’s her Corn. I’m hoping I won’t see another Nobuta wo Produce ending where intimate feelings are left un-flourished.

On a side note, I’ve just started Peach Girl yesterday. That show’s living proof of extreme dramatization, but the characters are “okay”, though Okayasu is just beyond awesome. I feel like I’ve recently drifted apart from my old self who desired violence to this girl who likes to watch fluffy bunnies hopping around in a field of pink daisies.

I’m back!

I’m pretty sure the account regarding the new kooky dating simulation website is, quite frankly, “old school” by the time you read this, but I was absent for a while. Anyway — to those who don’t yet know (and bless your soul, I might not sound so out-to-date after all) –  Webkare, which translated in English means Web Boyfriend, is Japan’s “idiosyncratic way of curing loneliness”. Considering the fact that 10, 000 members registered over 5 days since its release and the site obtained 3.5 million hits during the same period, Webkare might even become available in the US and Europe.

When I first read about Webkare from the DOLLY magazine, which my sister (I even underlined that for you) subscribed to for a year, I was more or so interested in how many people would actually play this game. I did pay a short visit to the site and when I managed to get my “virtual boyfriend” talking, I — the AWESOME blissmo who adores horror, blood, horror, and blood — was totally freaked out. Not only was I more than slightly disturbed, I was utterly speechless. In fact, I don’t think I’ll be able to get a goodnight sleep for a very long time. Although I was shamefully intrigued by the nice and clean artwork, I suppose dating a virtual boyfriend is no real issue since it serves a “good purpose”. Madeline, who was mentioned in DOLLY, said: “It might be okay for people who find it hard to talk in person, but I wouldn’t date a computer.” I agree. Still, I don’t understand how dating a virtual boyfriend/girlfriend makes you any less lonelier than you already are. Enlighten me.

I know: it’s been a while.

With the year coming to a gradual(?) end, I must admit that I’ve been extremely busy with preparations for the upcoming exams and handing in my assignments in time (this is the suffering you have to go through if you slack off in class). So those are pretty much the obvious reasons for my recent lack of posts. In about two-four (possibly more, apologies!) weeks from now I should be able to start blogging normally again, so until then, good-bye, good luck in life, sleep early, and damnit, do your homework. Oh, JLeeson is also really busy.

Another lovely episode of Kyou’s naivety indeed!

Regardless of how predictable this episode turned out to be, I’d still like to know why Ren finds Kyou’s reason behind joining the entertainment industry to be so despicable. Like Ruri, I admit that someone without talent doesn’t necessarily deserve to win a debut by participating in a laborious, and rather ridiculous (in a sense), “game”. Right now, though, I respond to Ren’s presence with a mere shrug. So until he bursts the bubble, for me he’ll continue to be the forgettable dull character, although I don’t hate him so much any more. In any case, I demand more of Sho’s arrogance.

Words can’t describe how inspiring and hilarious it was to watch as Kyou made assumptions about how severe Ruri’s “condition” was. Hilarious—-because it was so obvious Ruri was overreacting to the sun’s UV rays—–but inspiring because through this fake act, Kyou’s kindness returned. The part I enjoyed most was when Kyou sat herself down and lamented over the ten points she received. For a while she was moping, but I was touched by her optimism to think of this as starting afresh instead. The miniature Kyou devils were nicely played out as well, especially when the angel arrived. I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I told myself several things at once.
