Ahem,I was slightly dissapointed Mikan didn’t flinch at the sight of Rito’s “manliness”.I bet there wasn’t much to look at in the first place.

Seriously when will they stop messing with the manga?This time Goku aka Lala’s dad comes by and he does the opposite of what earned my respect and adoration.Instead of shamelessly groping every girl on campus he just directly confronts Rito.And they throw in a Lala confession which is not due to appear anytime soon.And they made Rito seem like he’s got balls.Which is also not very true at this point.Because he only got them after a few more characters and filler arcs passed.Though he recently lost them again….a sad story.Anyway,Lala’s dad comes to earth and takes over a body( a really nice one at that).He threatens to blow up the earth with his super saiyan powers unless Rito becomes the number one man in the universe.Rito regains his resolve to do just that after emerging from his room after worrying of over the monumental task.

Episode 14,was just a relationship building episode with Haruna for Rito.More accurately,Rito is cheating on his fiancee and seeing another woman.It was all cleverly masked as just a routine Rito follows to build up some muscle.Haruna just happens to be walking her dog and is going the same way Rito is.However,because Rito never had the guts to try anything it always ends up a total mess.He even got into Haruna’s apartment and had her alone in her room.He lightened up the atmosphere with some small talk.They “accidentally” trip over.Rito is half naked and on top of Haruna.But he hesitated to go for the kill.What happens?Her sister comes back and well spoils the fun.BOO!!

Thoughts:
Besides the striking resemblance to Goku that Lala’s dad has,the episode was a sad rendition of the original.I mean,it was so lame in comparison that I delayed writing this for 2 weeks.How could they forget that Lala’s dad is a perv?How could they just cut out the scene where he molests all the girls in the school in less than 10 minutes?

Episode 14,never happened,but it was acceptable.As in,I can visualize the situation happening somehow.But Haruna only started trying to seriously go after Rito…after a few “close encounters”.Yea..but I can’t seem to recall exactly where.Oh right,probably after they introduced Oshizu(she won’t be in the anime I think).

Bah!!Thats enough ranting.Now go forth and watch anime =P

Probably only half of the female cast we’re going to see by the end,including Rito.Doujins are going crazy.

Its the obligatory sports festival episode.
Strong points include:Random bullshit.

I mean that in a good way because that’s the single area that To Love-Ru excels at.Saruyama as the sports commentator?The school nurse as the co-commentator?Breast exercises courtesy of the principal?Finding freshly worn bloomers?Legendary swords?Now thats one messed up script.

Thoughts:

It had that sporadic spark of brilliance every once in a while but looking at it objectively.The episode was just too full of hot air for its own good.Yea I liked the fanservice.The jokes were alright.But at the end of the day nothing really worthwhile happened.Maybe I’m just having a hangover here but I vaguely remember that somewhere along the way,the manga would insert either,some romance,Rito getting closer to someone etc.There’s always this micro-plot development that takes place in the background.Obviously this is to ensure the story actually goes somewhere instead of becoming another never-ending harem merry-go-round.

I’ll just give the series some more time since this episode convinced me to hold out a little longer.

I waited 3 MONTHS FOR THIS!!!

Summary:
Yami-chan,an assassin is sent to earth to kill Rito on the orders of one of Lala’s more disgusting ex-fiancees,Lacospo.

As you can clearly see,Yami’s strong point for me is those “juicy legs”.Kodomo Jikan just got pwned with this alone.

Notice the moe-ness precipitated just from watching her eat Taiyaki.Does it pwn Konata and her chocolate cornet?

Finally,we see the most common trump card played in H games.The “shy” appeal.

Thoughts:
This episode is probably one of the main reasons people have followed the anime thus far.And now that its over, I shudder to think what is in store for the future.Yes its was a great episode but thats only due to the studio following the manga script more closely.But now what?What’s left now that they practically butchered all the main girl characters into your stereotypical slutty anime characters?I think the only commendable thing about To Love-ru was the fact that the story and character build up was solid(in harem standards)

I can’t help but think that the studio has gotten themselves in deep shit now.They’ve progressed to the point of oblivion from here on out.Its most likely going to be a bunch of random episodes centered around Rito getting into compromising situations.I bet the scene where Lala confesses her honest and true feelings for Rito isn’t even going to be animated because they progressed the story so fast that its now in shambles as a hastily thrown together harem.

I don’t know whether its still worth blogging about considering all that but its just my prediction of what the future holds.It might just be disillusionment with the studio’s apparent lack of effort to preserve the storyline or it could be that they think that To Love-Ru is just another “fanservice trash” series so they’re ripping off the fans by forcing fans to watch their own made-up bullshit.

Just plain eye candy

Summary:
The same chapter came out in the manga this week.How ironic that its totally different.This time,Lala’s fanclub president who is also a talent scout comes to earth to bring Lala back to space and make big bucks as a space idol with billions of alien fans.The problem is that Lala likes it hee on earth and she’s determined to stay with Rito.Much to the midget’s disbelief.They then go on a talent hunt for the next star.Duh its Haruna.She screams moe judging from the perverted fantasies they concocted.Rito ends up having to protect Haruna from getting kidnapped and forced to be a slutty television host.He does that as well as many other horny things ^^ but with that said they again find themselves needing a star.Before they could ink a deal for the whole Rito family to do a threesome sitcom starring Rito being KOed by a harisen all the time,the talen scout is forced back to space due to the cops finding some dirt on the company.We’re left wondering the the heck was all that pointless talk for just now.Just for the lols I guess.

Thoughts:
For some reason I enjoyed this episode a little.The jokes?The cutesy voices?Something clicked but I’ll just write it off as euphoria from all the fanservice .With the manga possibly ending soon for some reason I’m still reeling from the shock so I guess the appearance of Yami this week is a small consolation prize.

And magical girl Kyoko appeared in this one.I have a long standing fetish for magical girls(not too sure why but…) and her body proportions look awesome.

Ultraman vs Rito =O

Summary:
I thought this was going to be about Mikado sensei…instead its about Pikari/Hikari…whatever his name is.He’s a rocketman/Kirara-ian which I think means something along the lines of ostentatious if I’m not mistaken since my head is abit fuzzy lately.So he’s come to marry Lala(duh..).Meanwhile while he’s flying around,it appears Rito has caught a cold but he can’t remember having done anything to catch the flu bug.Lala accompanies him to the infirmary but the nurse isn;t there.Lala transforms into a nurse outfit and tries to take Rito’s temperature WITH HER FOREHEAD.I must say it was getting close to an eroge scene before Mikado sensei came in to stop the madness.Anyway Hikari tries many times unsucessfully to woo Lala.He gets his rocketsuit broken muiltiple times by Lala and seeks help from Ren and Zastin when that happens each time,and eventually goes to Mikado sensei.Mikado sensei apparently is protrayed as a mysterious new school nurse.No one knows about her personal life though.But she is in fact an alien doctor.Anyway Pikari’s failures end up with him being pissed on by a dog.In the end he is returned to his home planet after Mikado sensei beats him up for assulting her students.Zastin is one of Mikado sensei’s regular patrons due to dogs being attracted to this skeleton like space suit.*END*

Thoughts:
I’m still to blinded by the manga’s awesomeness to bring myself to dislike the anime series.Just watching the character come to life is good enough for me actually.But honestly speaking,this episode sucked.That’s just putting it very bluntly.Why?We should have been focusing on Mikado sensei instead of the ultraman + rocketman ripoff.Pikari single handedly REDUCED the fanservice to almost decent levels.It made the episode look like a saint compared to Kanokon.The main reason thousands of teenage boys buy the Shounen Jump to read To Love-Ru every week is for the fanservice.Failure to realize that is just incomprehensible and I was just too bored to write up a detailed summary because of that.

Next week though I’m hopeful that its not going to be a fanservice disaster judging from the preview but its going to be another anime original, so its going to take a stroke of genius to impress me.For now,I’m content with reading/drooling over the manga.For example…

Genius?Or just plain gay? I never complain about more fanservice and I won’t start now

Look mom its one of those “Tsundere” people

Summary:

Kotegawa Yui enters the harem cast.The sad thing is that yami-chan was there when Yui was introduced in the manga T.T Anyways since I’m in a good mood since To Love-Ru celebrated its 2nd anniversary a few weeks back I just be a little less picky about this week’s episode.

Yui discovers the school is in a state of moral collapse due to Rito and co.’s indecent acts almost every day.

Yui enforces justice by first banning Rito from talking to girls and then taking dicipline into her own hands by force.Confiscating PSP’s,getting the girls to wear longer skirts and having people march in the hallways.

Yui discovers that Rito’s harem bunch is just as indecent without Rito around.

She wonders if she made a mistake and unjustly punished Rito.Rito is utterly depressed because Lala and Haruna are now wide open to other guys who are hungry for some attention.

He heads home early and Yui follows him.Turns out Rito is a really nice guy.Helpful,sensitive and has a heart of gold.I myself tend to forget what a nice guy Rito actually is.

Anyway Rito wins Yui’s heart in the process but Lala’s meddling(magnetic summoning robot) ruined the romantic feel.The havoc resumes the nest day with plenty of semi-nude shots galore.Yui then enforces the “No interacting Abnormally with the Opposite Gender” punishment on Rito.

Next time, another harem bishoujo is introduced.The alien nurse from other space arrives.She’s a clear fan fav judging by popularity contests.Apparently, lots of Japanese have bondage fetishes.Its understandable due to her appearence.

Thoughts:

We have gone into uncharted territory and its really taking its toll.Yui falling in love with Rito after 15 minutes?Thats a load of bull even for a whacky harem comedy like this.I’m pouting =X

Yui’s introduction was supposed to be AFTER Yami.The whole moe factor was seeing Rito engulfed by a bunch of girls minus Rito.But now without Yami,we are missing the whole goth loli appeal.Sickening.How can you ignore what the okaku want?Anyway, it seems that more made up stories by monkeys on crack is on track for next week as well.

Don’t get me wrong,I still like watching it all the same.Its just that I feel its because of episodes like this that give reason for the anti-ecchi community to find fault with the harem genre,like the totally unrealistic way girls are throwing themselves at Rito.Each and every one of these girls have a legitimate reason for loving Rito and I feel that the studio is making a horrible mistake replacing all of that with cheap ripoff storylines. Yui’s story was of course one of the more touching ones.

Anyway,in about 3 weeks I’m going to be a NEET since I would have graduated from high school T.T so I’m mourning my lost youth as well as sulking in emo land.

Beware of pseudo boys-love

Summary:
Ren,a new character is introduced.Ren is Lala’s childhood friend who is in love with Lala and tracks her to Earth.He challenges Rito and vows to take her away from him.He claims that Lala is his bride based on a casual promise back when they were kids.If he were to become manly enough,Lala would marry him,though Lala herself barely remembers it.Ren then proceeds to show off his manliness by constantly trying to beat Rito in everything.Ren wants to have a talk with Rito later but they bump into each other and kiss each other.Rito explains that Ren will never be manly just by trying to beat him(probably because beating a loser like Rito is nothing to be proud of).Ren goes to great lengths to become a true man.Lala finds it amusing rather than manly.Somehow his exploits have become national news as the boy who is willing to go to any means possible to reach his goal of winning the heart of his beloved.Fighting the Onibaku,fighting gorillas in the Himalayas,punching slabs of meat were just some of the ridiculous training he went through.He even refused to meet Lala to hear her admit that he has become manly because he wasn’t done with his training.After beating up a pro-boxer he finally runs 120 kilometers to see Lala and who will finally admit to him that he is man enough.However,a fly tickles his nose and he transforms into Run after sneezing.It is revealed that Ren can switch genders but both personalities share separate minds.

Thoughts:
The story was not original, obviously, but nobody ever said To Love-Ru was ever original.I can’t decide if I like the manga’s arc better or this.Certainly this was more funny(Street fighter 2 parodies) but the manga made Rito more involved in the plot rather than him sitting around watching Ren fight gorillas.

For me I would rather have them introduce Ren and Run as separate people.When they first introduced Run in the manga it was rather unpredictable and a shocker since I didn’t expect a trap coming.Ren was never manly to begin with though,annoyingly persistent is more accurate.And here he is, fighting pro-boxers?Plus, this was supposed to the scene where Rito gets his first kiss from Lala,but lost it to Ren.I was disappointed that they just casually let that slip by.Again,its the studio trying to hastily introduce all the harem cast at the expense of substance.

I especially liked the censorship of violence in this episode when they showed Ren fighting opponents.For the first time,I applauded the censorship since it was replaced with steamy scenes of Lala,Haruna and Mikan bathing.Other than that,it was decent but just missed my expectations compared to last week’s brilliance.Next week Kotegawa is introduced.However,I didn’t like what I saw in the preview.Kotegawa was way hotter in the manga and her boobs were definitely bigger.So for this episode,I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it.Its going to be a hit or miss with most people I’d say.

S&M,tentacle rape,B&D..now this my kinda show lol

Summary:
This time an alien invader threatens to destroy Rito and Lala’s engagement.It arrives at Rito’s school and sniffs out Rito and observes him.He knows about Rito having another girl he likes while being engaged to Lala.He identifies that girl as Haruna.Meanwhile,Lala is busy trying to dissect Rito but ends up only having his best friend whose name escapes me….oh right Saruyama.By dissect,I mean pinching your belly button with a pair of clamps.The alien invader knocks out the principal and shape-shifts into him.He then proceeds to ask Haruna to come to the gym storage room to talk about something.Haruna seems reluctant to leave but the alien then issues a direct order as the “principal” to get her to come along.He asks Saruyama to tell him that “He is bringing Haruna to the gym storage room”,implying that he has kidnapped Sairenji.Rito is busy running away from Lala who has been trying to dissect him since this morning.The message is passed on to Rito by Saruyama and Rito is determined to check up on Haruna to make sure she is okay.He lies to Lala saying he is going to the toilet and she actually buys it.Saruyama on the other hand strips down to his underwear and asks Lala to dissect him instead.Again,Lala squeezes his belly button with the tweezers.I cannot determine whether he is in pain or euphoria.Meanwhile Haruna was being tentacle raped by the alien *drools*.The scene was everybit as a detailed as I had hoped with the tentacles groping and fondling every inch of her body.Rito arrives to save the day.The alien threatens to hurt Haruna is he doesn’t renounce his engagement to Lala.Lala is fed up of waiting and uses one of her inventions to track Rito.The dog like robot instead finds the girl’s changing room and proceeds to harass the girls.It soon gets back to serious business and finds Rito.Lala recognises the alien as a previous potential fiance but refuses to marry him.Rito tells Lala to rescue Sairenji while he distracts the alien.While the alien has a muscular appearance it buckled under Rito’s attack much to Rito’s surprise.The alien is as mention before a shape-shifter and only made himself look strong but in fact is a weakling.He has duped countless other alien females into marrying him by taking the form of the best looking males on the planet as explained by his many wives.They are teleported to Zastin’s private bath with Zastin in it,good luck to him.Haruna awakes to find Lala by her side.She says that she found Haruna in the gym storage.She was apparently suffering from anemia.Rito could not stay long as he was too stimulated by Haruna in semi-nude mode.Lala said that he was the one who saved her.Saruyama and the principal go insane as they indulge in the pain and torture they were put through.

Thoughts:
Almost perfect.9/10 from me.Everything was superb from the animation,the plot,the presentation and execution of the gags.I had assumed they skipped this chapter but I was proven wrong.They modified alot of the minor details to shorten the episode.By right,the alien assumed the identity of a hot gym teacher instead of the peverted principal but I’ll let them off on that bit.But the part about Saruyama being an S&M freak really was a stroke of genius and made up for it.The tentacle rape was the stuff that ecchi fanboys live for.One person I came across comments:*fap fap fap*.He was too busy to give any other views on the episode.Somehow XEBEC has hit the sweet spot with me by just going with the flow.Keeping close to the manga without trying to overdo it on the anime original stuff.I commend that and I really appreciate it.As for the next episode I can’t wait to see what they have in store.Apparently,they’re changing Ren’s manga introduction into a boxing match.It might be better but since XEBEC is on a roll now I’m very excited.Ren is one of those insecure male types and while he’s not that popular among the Japanese fans(according to an online poll) he still has a special place in my heart.I call that pity for all the effort he puts in to charm Lala.

Its getting HOT!!

Summary:
Saki,a new character is finally introduced.She is in the second year and thinks too highly of herself.In comes Lala to the picture.She easily captures the attention of all the boys in the school and is now referred to as the legendary transfer student(lol?).Lala brings another of her wierd inventions again to school,a robot guard dog that is supposed to protect her.It appears as Lala’s normal daily routine emits enough pheromones to seduce everyone within a mile of her and Rito has the luxury of seeing it all.Lala’s dog ripping off her school clothes,Lala falling on Rito after attempting to reach a book,etc etc etc.Saki see this as a challenge and asks her subordinates to challenge Lala to a beauty contest approved by the perverted principal.She wears a skimpy outfit and all but some of the guys who turned up only wanted to see Lala.However,Lala is busy talking to Zastin who is concerned about her safety.The challenge letter was torn up by Lala’s dog and it just caused more delays to the steamy bathing suit contest.Saki resorts to threats by kidnapping Rito with a crane?(0.o).She threatens to steal Lala’s fiance for herself but it looks like she was going to stuff his head between her boobs.Lala appears just before the action chasing her dog.Saki falls over in the confusion.Before she could badmouth Lala enough,the dog rips off her clothes and everybody gets free “treats”.Saki vows to get revenge for this humiliation.Later she overhears Rito talking about a secret,referring to Lala being an alien.Saki decides to investigate and expose this although she didn’t know what to expect in the first place.She trespasses into Rito’s home but meets with various traps set up by Zastin to defend against enemies.She somehow falls into Lala’s room and hides under a desk waiting to see what Lala has to hide with the latter having just taken a shower.But she accidentally triggers the escape pod button also installed by Zastin.Both of them are then headed off to space in Lala’s room while Saki is in panic mode.Zastin tries to intercept the pod in his ship with his subordinates.Lala accidentally presses a button to activate missiles and destroys the rescue fleet.Saki slips and falls out from the flying room but Lala goes after her.Using her wings she rescues Saki and leaves her in a crowded square.She mistakenly leaves her dog there which proceeds to eat her clothes again.She awakens only to be greeted by the drooling faces of perverted men and realises she is bare naked in the middle of a crowded city.She again vows revenge for this humiliation.

Thoughts:
Hmm XEBEC actually did something right this time.This is what I had wanted all along.They took 60% of the manga story line,add in a few of their made up stuff and didn’t go easy on the fanservice.What do we get?A GOOD episode.I can’t see anything wrong for once and honestly, I’m shell-shocked.Everything they modified and added was consistent with the original character tendencies.As for the next episode,I am REALLY looking forward to it because this is the ORIGINAL To Love-RU tentacle rape scene in colour.I think it was chapter 7/8 and its one of the few chapters where Rito saves the day.For me, its finally turning around and I just can’t predict what will happen next.

As for the fansub issues I hear…it would seem not everybody is a fan of Ayako and I did use Chihiro’s subs for this.For me,Ayako does good work BUT I do admit their translations are a little improvised but not to the extent that it becomes bad.I found Dattebayo and Rumbel,the two groups who happen to release good work but their translations are too detached from their original meanings sometimes.Yes even my crappy Japanese can spot the questionable translations so its pretty bad on that part.Chihiro…I don’t see enough of their work to be able to get a decent idea of how they do things but 3.5 hours for 1 episode is impressive to say the least according to their website. HD + fanservice was a deadly combo.I really hope they continue this and not just leave it as a oneshot >.>

Pros: Fanserivce was X2 as much this time,Saki – my least fav character,was not as bad as I thought she would be.I actually liked her anime character more than the manga one.

Cons:Nothing much I can think of.They executed their game plan well and I could see what they were trying to do.I did however feel annoyed that slightly too much material was added for this episode causing me to have to write a long summary lol.

P.S if some of the shopshots are missing it means an anti-anime fag on photobucket saw it,in which case I apologise on his behalf.

Finally some tentacle rape is served

Summary:
This time Rito dreams about finally confessing to Haruna but gets awakened from his dream to find Lala again in his bed.Later that morning,Lala and Rito have breakfast together and she comments that it was delicious even though it was just bacon and eggs.Rito is feeling down and goes to the school roof to contemplate his situation.Zastin turns up and somehow increased Rito’s worries by mentioning that this marrige will involve expanding Deviluke’s territory and/or defending them from invaders AKA intergalactic wars.Rito is horrified.Back home,Mikan makes sukiyaki for Lala as dinner since Lala likes hot foods.She never had the chance to eat things warm because the food had to be taste tested to prevent food poisoning back home.Zastin joins in as a freeloader.While they were on the subject of food Rito suddenly realises that Lala can’t cook.After Lala almost kills him by making some kind of alien jelly desert,Rito declares that if Lala didn’t know how to cook she might as well go back to Deviluke since he wants to eat good food from the girl he loves.Rito figured that this was the only way he could escape death in the many wars he is going to encounter.Lala runs off visibly hurt.The next day Lala is still no where to be seen and Rito is starting to regret his harsh words the night before.Out of nowhere Lala appears and drags Rito from class to the home economics room.She declares that she is going to cook for Rito since he said that he would love to eat food prepard by the girl he loved.A total misinterpretation there.Lala clears up the whole going to war issue for Rito since Deviluke has plenty of generals to fight wars and it isn’t necessary for him to worry.Things seem to get better now and Lala slips into a bathing suit and an apron to get started on cooking.Haruna finally finds the two but before any fireworks could happen,giant seafood starts coming out of the portable freezer Lala used to store her ingredients.After some slapstick humour and plenty of tentacle rape scenes later the whole school building is left in ruins while Rito is left to suffer along.

Thoughts:
Watching it in raw a week ago then in subs is a really contrasting experience.Anyway,it only confirmed my conclusions on the series.Its definitely going to be 50-50 in terms of anime original plot and stuff from the manga.While this whole episode was made up,it wasn’t as horrible as I thought it would be.Sure the tentacle rape scene was sub par in contrast to the manga’s by virtue of having finer tentacles to reach all the spots,and sure they spent alot of cash animating some really ridiculous artificial looking seafood but everything before that was enjoyable to be honest.So far this is the studio’s best effort at doing something original.I applaud that, yet I still wonder why they couldn’t just backtrack and recycle abit of the manga’s story line.As for the next episode,its going to go back to introducing a new character.The “queen”,not one of my favourite characters,finally makes an appearance.Its going to be a whole week before Yami-yami,one of the series’s big fan favourites and mine comes into the picture and I’m already getting impatient.

Pros:The plot didn’t suck as bad as I thought it would,tentacle rape – not erotic enough but its better than nothing
Cons:The CGI seafood was unnecessary and was a waste of good money imo since they could have just went with normal animation and the effect would be about the same.
