Shiro eat anpan with Ganta!

Before the game commences, Tamaki orders the narrator to go ahead and make the danger level at max. He also tells him to call for the corpse disposal team and to announce to the customers and human rights schmucks that the show’s purely for dramatic impact. Meanwhile, Ganta is still worrying over the fact that he must win the race or otherwise face death tomorrow. Suddenly, the race begins and the first hurdle is to pass the “slice and dice” alive. Ganta manages to get through the bladed pendulums but just as he turns around, he sees a man’s head, body and hand being cut off completely. Ganta remembers this smell as the smell of a person when they die, and he is reminded of the horrific event that got him in Deadman Wonderland in the first place. Among the crowd, two blokes exclaim how awesome the effects are while the other one suggests that they take a photo of it. A couple are standing as spectators and the wife comments on how disgusting this show is, but her husband tells her not to worry since they’re all criminals anyway. So far, Ganta is surving each obstacle because of his determination to win. Kouzuji spots him and threatens his gang to kill Ganta or else he’ll give them a nice new dental wear. Ganta reaches a stage with arrows and as he is running, the three thugs come in to hit him across the head with a bat. However, Shiro appears and pushes Ganta out of the way just in time. Ganta doesn’t know that Kouzuji has his men tailing him, so he thinks Shiro is just annoying him. A participant trips into the tank of water below them and is electrocuted to death. Shiro tells Ganta not to be clumsy like that man because she wants to eat anpan with him. The crowd goes wild and inside a small lobby of criminals, Azami hopes that Ganta is alright. A visitor comes up to the man who bumped into Ganta the first day, whose name is You, and tells him that he’ll give his money back. You just smiles and wishes the visitor good luck.

Ganta is running again and just as a knife is about to fly at him, Shiro appears again riding on a bull and saves him without his knowledge. Kouzuji sneaks up on his men and warns them that if they don’t kill Ganta soon he’ll cut off their fingers and make them eat them deep fried. All of a sudden, Shiro knocks all of them except Kouzuji out while riding on the bull. Kouzuji is now even angrier and tells his gang that he’ll pull their guts out and hang them with them later, before deciding to kill Ganta on his own. Ganta makes it through a lot of dangerous obstacles with the help of Shiro. However, Ganta just believes that Shiro is getting in his way and slowing him down. While he’s running once more, ahead of him the other contestants are all roughed up, so Ganta considers himself lucky. Finally, the last round of the race begins and in order to win the prize money, the person has to hold onto the deadman ball before the timer runs out. Shiro cheers happily and Ganta prays that she doesn’t get in his way on this one. Just as everyone runs onto the platform, a man drops because the square base beneath him completely opened. The narrator explains that the floor panels deteriorate at a rate of one every five seconds. Three men look down at the gap and see that the man who fell in is pierced to death by spikes protruding from the very bottom. One of the thugs who was previously trying to kill Ganta almost has the Deadman ball in his hands, but it slips out of his grasp and Ganta catches it.

Ganta manages to keep the ball away from many other competitors and figures out that the panels are especially designed to fall at inverse positions from each other. So he realizes that the one that had just fallen is odd, and calculates that the next one is there. He leaps out of the way just in time and Kouzuji, who nearly got the ball from Ganta, slips into the gap. However, before he falls Kouzuji kicks the Deadman ball out of Ganta’s grip, but Shiro catches it instead. Frustrated, Kouzuji aims a knife at Ganta and instead of the weapon hurting Ganta, Shiro jumps in the way and gets stabbed. Ganta looks at her and questions her action. He sees that she’s really injured all over the place and at last realizes that all this time she’s been helping him. Angered, Ganta demands to know why Shiro was protecting him and she tells him because he said “no kill friends” and also because she wanted to eat anpan with Ganta. The panel Shiro is standing on suddenly breaks and she falls in. As she is falling, she throws the Deadman ball towards Ganta, but instead of catching it, Ganta decides to save Shiro. The ball falls into the pit and so the race is ended with no winner. The crowd is shocked and very disappointed. Makina comes up to Kouzuji after the game and asks him if he would rather spend a year solitary detention, or have his dear knife back into his heart. He has to choose one of them as punishment regarding his illegal actions during the game. Shiro asks Ganta why he did that when she passed the ball to him, and Ganta tells her that if he didn’t they wouldn’t be able to eat anpan together. Ganta calls her stupid and remembers that because he didn’t get the 100, 000 CP, he’s going to die tomorrow.

The visitor goes up to You and apologizes and tells him that he’ll definitely get his money back. You tells him that for today he’ll just need some interest. Later he’s seen with the visitor’s ear, which he had cut off. He takes the earring from it and throws the ear in the bin, noting that the accessory will only be worth 100 CP. He tells himself that the visitor should have given it back sooner and that he’d like his new friends to be nicer, referring to Ganta and Shiro.

Thoughts: What?! You is bad? You’s his name? LOL! I really enjoyed reading this chapter – it was purely made of awesomeness. It was so cool how some of the participants died and it’s just so bloody and gruesome that I seriously love this. I can’t wait until it turns into an anime, which most likely won’t be soon. Now, either You’s one of the good main characters or he’s one of the bad ones. Who knows, people like You can be good in a way, and yet evil in another. Shiro is just becoming more interesting and she’s co cute and stupid, it brought so much humour, especially when she appeared out of nowhere with a bull. Man, it was about time Ganta realized she was helping him! And it was so sweet how he saved her in the end instead of his own life because he wanted to eat anpan with her! I thought it was hilarious how Shiro asked him later why he didn’t try to catch the ball when she passed it to him, lol. Can’t wait for the next chapter!
