Here’s a Quick Look at Rabbit Doubt: Chapters 01-09!!

YAY! More bunny deaths! MUAHAHA!
Last night I was extremely bored trying to finish my assignment which isn’t due until another two weeks, so I went around random sites looking for anything interesting. I visited MangaShare as always and saw that chapter 9 of a manga called Doubt had just been released by SnoopyCool (they also scanlate Deadman Wonderland). Doubt appears weekly in the shounen magazine (I think!) and despite its plot sounding a whole lot familiar to Cry_Wolf (a movie my friends and I – including midnightrose – watched in order to “scare” us, but nothing of that really happened until the end); I decided to check it out anyway. Before going to sleep, I had managed to finish the series up until the latest chapter and boy, was I pleased and glad that I had found it!

Synopsis:
This manga follows a group of newly found friends playing a game called Wolf (I think) and they all receive an image on their phone, informing them whether they’re a rabbit or a wolf. Yuu is the main protagonist along with his childhood friend, Mitsuki, who joins shortly after hearing about the game. The game is actually supposed to just be a game, but instead, people part of the group disappear one by one, each killed as atonement for “lying.” Now, they are all facing serious doubt in one another and they all start accusing each other of being the wolf. The survivors have to find a means of escaping this rundown hospital which the wolf had led them to by dragging them here unconscious. Is it the medical student, the ex-boxer, the hypnotist, the one whose lover was killed, the childhood friend or Yuu himself?

What we have learned so far:
- All the players of Rabbit Doubt have a barcode in places of their body to get into a room, but it can only be used once. However, Yuu doesn’t have a barcode.
- Rei used to be a famous hypnotist but tried to kill herself after the press kept trying to make her “spill the beans.” This caused her only to disable her legs instead, so she ran away and hid. She arrives at the gathering spot for all the players of this game in a wheelchair and pretends that she’s someone else. Later, she is found dead with a shard pierced through her chest and smeared across the wall with her blood reads “Atonement for killing both legs. The liar must die.” She has a barcode on her leg.
- Eiji used to be a boxer but after a terrible incident where a conflict broke out, many people were severely injured but one boy died. Eiji, although locked himself in a room, is soon later hanged by a person who wears a bunny head over their head and his hand which holds Rei’s cellphone is cut off.
- That boy who died was actually Haruka’s lover and so she supposedly joined this game in order to avenge his death. Mitsuki and Yuu suspect that Haruka must’ve killed Eiji since if she told the press that Eiji was her lover’s murderer (she had mostly likely been there when the murder happened), they would only put him in probation. So Haruka had to take things in her own hands. After a while, Yuu and Mitsuki also receive a call through Rei’s phone from Haruka and she tells Mitsuki before hanging up on Yuu: “for the one I love.”
- Hajime is a medical student who didn’t appear at the gathering. He doesn’t seem to trust any one and keeps to himself most of the time. He also finds interest in dead bodies and develops a tight tension between him and Eiji when they first meet. He tells Yuu that he was going to come but instead received a message from Yuu himself that the meeting had been cancelled. Next thing, he wakes up in the same room Yuu and Mitsuki are in and he deducts that he might possibly have been drugged.
- Mitsuki is Yuu’s childhood friend and she wasn’t an original member of Rabbit Doubt until she bumped into Yuu and asked him what the game was about. She joins in and when Haruka finds the data on all the members of this game, she sees Mitsuki’s information there as well. Immediately, when Mitsuki and Haruka are alone, Haruka stabs Mitsuki in the shoulder suspecting her as the Wolf. Then she locks her up in the bathroom and leaves.
- Yuu is most likely not the wolf since we see things from his point of view. He doesn’t jump into conclusions and trusts his “friends.” He probably has romantic feelings towards Mitsuki and she also may return this.
- Mistuki and Yuu find a room with lots of rabbit heads and ropes and the axe which had been used to kill Eiji. They see another door, but don’t know where it leads to.
- When Eiji was killed, Yuu was watching the video camera and saw Haruka and Mitsuki, but he didn’t see Hajime. Hajime returns and Yuu suspects him as the wolf, but Hajime explains that he had only wanted to show Yuu this: an article about Eiji’s boxing days and how Haruka is linked to him.
- The Wolf seems to be killing off people who have done something in the past to deserve death. Yuu might die next since he lied to everyone about having a barcode when he didn’t.
- The group, excluding Eiji, discovers the room where there are lots of video cameras and a man wearing a bunny head sitting before it. When they touch him, he collapses off his chair asleep. Hajime explains that he had been overdosed. Just as they leave, the man grabs Yuu’s leg and Yuu kills him by accidentally pressing a poisoned thumbtack on his bunny head.
- The room Eiji was locked in (by Hajime as punishment for walking off on his own) was actually a restroom but later he was found dead in another room.

Impression:
I really enjoyed reading this and I seriously can’t wait until the next chapter is scanlated! I love mind-boggling mysteries and anime/manga which makes you delve really deep and assume a lot of things. I was so happy seeing someone die in the very first chapter because it was just so awesome, despite me liking Rei the most out of all the characters so far. Along the way, I kept assuming that Hajime would be the Wolf because he seems to be the most intelligent (in fact, he is). Also, I had suspected that Yuu could also be the wolf because it would be such a good twist! Then again, he doesn’t seem like he is. This would be a good series to follow, especially for those like usagijen and mellow_bunny. It seems like I’m not the only one who likes killing off bunnies! And yay — more bunny stew for Impz!
My theory:
I think this is going to end up like Cry_Wolf where in the end, everyone is just playing a game and pretending deaths in order to scare some people in the group. But if I read more, then I think Rei could be capable of doing something. She’s a hypnotist after all, so she could’ve hypnotized them all or something. I don’t think it could be Yuu, but it could be Mitsuki. Since they were childhood friends and because Yuu keeps promising to protect her, she could’ve somewhat used this to her advantage and have Yuu completely trust her. Although I don’t know how Haruka had been the one who killed Eiji when Yuu was watching it and she was wearing something entirely different to the murderer.

Is it geared towards horror with lots of blood? I don’t do horror that well so i might take a look depending on the answer.
<3’s Snoopy Cool since Yakitate, this makes me want to check their recent releases
My impression of rabbits change for the worse after reading this post.
You’re aiming to give both mellow and usagi a heart attack, aren’t you? >_>
Wow… That looks really cool. It does kinda remind me of Cry_Wolf, but that movie was really stupid. I didn’t get the ending, and I still don’t get it! xD But anyway, this manga sound uuuber-awesome! Give? ^^
@nagato: MUAHAHA! No, I just find it hilarious
@midnightrose: Yes, Your Highness!
haha woww…scary…but I’m intrigued, I’ll have to check this out…even if that means I’ll have nightmares about bunnies!
The bunnies…they haunt me…. o_o.
Wow, this is seriously freaky… it kinda DOES remind me of Cry_Wolf a lot… since there was a new person (Mitsuki) and it’s focused on one person’s point of view. Hajime seems so suspicious.. but so does Haruka!
Thanks for taking the time to write all this up. It’s called Doubt, not Wolf, btw. Also, they have up to issue 12 out, even though 13 was supposed to come out today -_-### SPOILER: So yeah, I’ve got a theory on Rei being it seeing as at the end it’s only Yuu left alive! o noez!
Hajime might still be alive, in which case I think it’s him
I think it’s Mitsuki. There’s just a lot that could point to her. Or Hajime, since there isn’t a lot of evidence. But, it would be great if, in some twist, Mitsuki and Hajime knew each other from before, and Mitsuki just happened to run into the group at the meeting place. then we could have 2 Wolfs!
I don’t know who the wolf is , but i think it’s kinda suspicious that in the first chapter Haruka told the others that Hajime sent her a text-message that said that he had something to do at his university , but in chapter 2 Hajime said that he was sent a text message that said that the time and place of the meeting had been changed.
Actually I think there might be more than one killer.
Actually Rei and Mitsuki are the murderer Rei use her hypnotize skill to create something like illusion to let them think that she have died. Later Rei uses her skills to hypnotize Mitsuki to muder every one else Yuu is also killed by mitsuki
and yes there is more than one wolf.
