Even though SHAFT is not my favorite studio, but I have to respect them for making titles such as SZS and ef.
SZS is damn funny and totally random, while ef amazed me with the animations..
Can’t wait for Shina Dark.

I like EF’s visual style because it isn’t bland, standard or notched down a couple of tones. It possesses quite serious symbolism, art, unique and meaningful.

Yes, I like most of Shaft’s shows I’ve seen up until now and their translation of the source material into anime.

Yamcha: I can see where you’re coming from, but Shaft is merely carefully choosing their audience. They are fully aware that a lot of people won’t like their style, but they are reaching for those that do. That’s why I find it hard to recommend their shows.

I know Shaft’s claim to fame is their unique visual style, but I feel that it’s too overused in everything they do. Zany art works for comic effect in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Pani Poni Dash, but it becomes too polarizing in serious shows like ef. I would actually like ef much more if they toned it down a couple notches.

Now now tj han, no need to be a jerk when it doesn’t warrant it. :/

SHAFT makes things interesting to me (why I watched ef – a tale of memories, and now a tale of melodies, as I probably wouldn’t otherwise), and I find that because they tend go be “out there” in terms of what they do, the studio does seem to have a love/hate relationship with people. But it works for me.

hmmm SHAFT one of the studio’s i like since i watched pani poni dash-zetsubou sensei and since then after watching ef-the tale of memories i labeled their company as a company who create “miracles” with their quirky style of animation, cause ef was the one of the best games/anime i have read/watched then combine with their stylish transitions… it became an epic
