Call for fellow crazies
Bear with me…
It’s a good thing Yukan HQ is a virtual location, because this blog is starting to look like the wackiest place in the otakusphere.
It’s possible that’s because we’re operated by an angry, ailing midget whose hobbies include torturing cartoon bunnies until they kill themselves.
But while all this is going on, I think it’s my duty to add to the insanity. Why beat around the bush, here’s my (fully blissmo-sanctioned) plan:
I can has podcast?
The question is not whether I’m gonna do it, but: Who’s with me?
I’m looking for:
- Interested Yukan folks to participate/co-host with me.
- People who are up on their anime news.
- Other bloggers who aren’t concerned about having their damn gender identified on-air, who want to participate in conversations for the entertainment of the Yukan readership.
My idea:
- Some news but mostly editorial and discussion
- Short length, so us ADD people don’t get distracted and turn it off right away
- A little music
- A tie-in with the bunny channel in some way, but that’s really up to my small overlord.
My pledge:
- I will handle the technology side. Anyone who wants on will need only to get on a Skype conference, which I will record.
- I promise not to talk about Real Drive the whole time.
When I say I’m serious I mean with a capital Youbetcha, so if there is no interest from fellow Yukanners (which I hope there is) then I’ll be getting on this horse from my own blog.

Hmm I wonder… if outsiders can join in. Oh well can you define Yukan?
Would love to take part, but I speak barely intelligible 3rd world level English. Then, again I would probably be just talking about the really ghey stuff (´～`)

This response is swell so far. Stay tuned for more updates, as I work out the kinks and start getting a format going. Now if I can just get an IKnight guest spot to make us look smart…

I forced myself to read the manual or w/e and I still don’t get half of it …
At this rate we’ll be able to hear the voices of plenty of rad bloggers in a just a few episodes!
@Deranged what part of the criteria are you missing? I think I can accommodate a wide range of folks, provided you’re at least a little relevant. I mean I love Neil Diamond, but this is an anime podcast
@Riex I was planning on just getting drunk to do this but unicorncrack sounds great! I think! Either that or it sounds hellishly awful. I must admit I have never smoked/ingested/ridden/poured salt on/whatever you do with it.

@Nagato You came to mind when I wrote #3. If you don’t want to ruin your carefully cultivated wo/man of mystery image, I suppose I understand. Podcasting, though, doesn’t entail much — basically it’s blogging with your mouth instead of your fingers. That sounds gross and I don’t know why.
@blissmo If I could do it with tin cans and string, believe you me I totally would. I just thought of something, wouldn’t talking to you be like talking to the future? Wait, or is it the past? Time zones are one thing I never got a firm grasp on.
Can i join in as well? Then again i don’t really watch too much anime lately.
Also, I’m with Nagato when i say that i don’t really know what a podcast would be about.

I assume this meant Yukan writers.
I watch a wide array of anime so I am up for anything up for discussion. The whole time zone issue may be a problem… Britainian here.
Oh, yeah, so I wouldn’t mind helping out with a podcast, as long as it isn’t too serious (I mean, 1UP.com’s GFW Radio often derails into stories of friends’ drug abuses and just utter lulzworthy nonsense).
Mainly, it’d be cool if this podcast set itself apart from other anime-related podcasts, namely Anime Pulse, because that’s the most popular anime podcast I can think of. They have a news/review setup, but rarely any real editorial-like discussion.
As for people that don’t know how a podcast goes, it really depends on the podcast. Not all podcasts (at least audio wise) have the same format or anything like that; I’m sure Yukan’s general format will mold as the number of episodes increase.
Oh, well, I guess I’m out then. Unless I can be like issa and use a voice synthesizer. XD

If the girls get to use a voice synthesizer, so do I. I want to sound like Maid Guy.

I would be interested in participating since I have lost interest in my solo one (haven’t done an episode in a couple months). I don’t keep up with many of the new shows coming out but I can commentate on news and general topics. Drop me a line if you need a guest or something and I’ll boot up Skype.
